Why doesn't Obama or any politician for that matter use graphs to explain things? For all of their sophistication in Internet and social media, why doesn't the Obama campaign just go on television and show the American people a damn chart? Are we that stupid or am I missing something here?

Tips for a newbie delegate to a political convention? I agreed to act not only as a Democrat delegate but as a vice-chair for my precinct. Our county organizing convention is coming up this weekend. I've read a tiny bit about what to expect on the agenda (but not a lot), but am more worried about just seeming out of place. I'm young, don't have a lot of political experience, and also had to change my affiliation from unaffiliated to do this. Part of me says that in a state where Democrats are a minority no one will be judging me for wanting to serve, but what can you tell me (or links can you give me...) to better prepare me? I'm looking for both what I should know about how it'll run and the more nuanced aspects of interaction/networking/flow.

I'm gonna try to cut together a little political viral video and would love to get my hands on high quality video of the recent democratic debates. Does anyone know of a source on the net to download full resolution (720x480) quicktimes of the debates, or has anyone out there taped or tivo'ed the debates in the greater Los Angeles area who would let me either copy/borrow what you recorded? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Which GOP Congressmen, Senators, and other political leaders joined the Democrats in asking for the resignation of Alberto Gonzales? Specific quotes and references would be great.
Also, what argument would counter someone who believed the only reason the GOP would sign on board to the resignation ballet was because they felt it was "clearing" the "perceived" dirty ship so that a Rep. would be able to stay in the Whitehouse as opposed to the Republicans genuinely feeling that Gonzales should go for unethical behavior?

Now that the election is over, I'd like to ask a question about preparing for the next one. I'm
still struggling with being (or not being) a political person. My problem is that I can't stand us-vs-them mentality. If a political discussion veers into "those insane democrats" or "those horrible republicans," by brain turns off. I know some will disagree, but I think there are very few complex issues that are black & white. So it's hard for me to believe that one party is right and the other is wrong. But most commentators seem to be "liberals" or "conservatives." I know I'm supposed to listen to them both and then make my own informed decision. But I'd love to find some writers (or speakers) who are deeply independent. I want to read columns by someone who regularly says, "the democrats are right about X and wrong about Y, whereas the republicans are right about A but wrong about B." And it would help if this person (people?) is a good writer, smart and knowlegeable about history. Where do you find the writers who are interested in facts -- not sides?

I want to give more $$ to the Democrats, but I don't know where to give. If I give to the DNC-how can they use the money now that Kerry has accepted federal money? I've given to Move On already. What other groups are out there? (I especially want to give to someone who is attacking these swift boat a-holes directly on TV. Is anyone doing that?)
