Do you know a nail polish that is fee of chemicals like formaldehyde, etc.?
I think they call it the 4 free or 5 free.........I tried the polish called "Butter" but it chipped right away.
I'm willing to even just have 2 or 3 free if I can have a polish that does not chip the next day. I'm just trying to find something with "less" chemicals than the normal polish.

After a week of vaguely making plans to pre-order and never getting around to it, my Polish boyfriend and I would like to get some paczki in Chicago for Fat Tuesday! However, we couldn't go early in the morning, and we are lame and didn't plan, and now I'm wondering if there are any bakeries in Chicago that will still have paczki in the late afternoon/evening? My guy is turning 24 this Thursday, so I am casting around for a birthday gift. He studies Poland and Eastern Europe. He lived in Poland for a couple years while working as a journalist, and he remains fascinated by Polish culture and history. I was thinking that I could get him some Polish "comfort" items--specialty snacks, etc. Any ideas, AskMeFites?

Asking for my husband - he recently met a man who when younger had a love for 17th century Polish poetry. He wasn't clear if there was one specific poet, or just poetry from that era. My husband would love to buy him a book of such poems (in Polish) as a gift. But since neither of us knows Polish, Googling isn't helping much.
It could be a new or old edition, anthologies are fine. Must be able to ship to the US.
Thanks in advance!

My father is trying to get his hands on the Polish version of the book "Doctor Zhivago", by Boris Pasternak.
Apparently it's been out of print for a while.
I can't read any Polish. I'm looking for a link at an online store where it can be ordered.

I’m currently working on an international project and need to format documents written in German, Polish and Croatian for use on the web. What is the quickest way to convert all the non-ASCII characters into the relevant character entity? Some sort of web form would be my ideal solution, but I’d settle for a freeware program.

I just bought a postcard written in what looks like Armenian sent from what is now Lviv to what is now Chernivtsi (in what is now Ukraine), sometime between 1905 and (I'm guessing from the stamp) the end of the First World War/Austrian rule of Galicia. What does it say? [more inside]

I have an antique copper pot that has lost its luster. It's an ordinary enough saucepan, but it was made and then brought from Russia by my great-grandparents in the 1880s. My own parents just recently passed it on to me and I'm proud to display it in my home. But it is rather dull-looking and is not as pretty as it could be. I would love some advice about how to polish it. I'm not interested in restoring it to a point where it looks like a knockoff, I'd just love to reveal the warm coppery glow I'm sure is lurking under the dullness.

Please help me identify the song being sung at 5 minutes, 52 seconds into the BBC's Monday morning GlobalNews podcast
. It's identified in the podcast as being sung by young Polish people in front of the Presidential Palace, presumably gathering in vigil, and it struck me as hauntingly beautiful.

So I shipped a couple of cars to Poland and they didn't make it in one piece. Now it's time to work with the insurance company. I need a few words translated into Polish for a Vehicle Rating Chart: "Vehicle Description", "Annual Miles", "Number of Years Principal Driver Licensed", "Vehicle Usage" (What the vehicle is used for), "Zip Code", "Discounts Applied", "Number of Years Secondary Driver Licensed". Can anyone fluent in Polish translate these for me? Dziekuje!
