My friend, who hasn't lived in Texas for decades, was dismayed to learn that there was a longstanding warrant for her arrest in Texas for a traffic violation she could not have committed. The warrant's for not paying a fine. (She thinks someone stole her driver's license and identity.)

Shouldn't admitting/publicly announcing that you smoke pot or do other drugs at least be enough for a search warrant in the US?

a) Do you always call the police? Surely if you don't the other party could later deny involvement.
b) If your car is undriveable, when the tow truck turns up and they ask you, "where would you like it towed to?", where the hell do you get it towed to?

I'm a freelance writer and I am trying to find instances related to the letter of inquiry below I sent to a Virginia magazine. This is a real-life situation of an acquaintence in the state of Utah. I'm looking for contacts, primary sources and attributable anecdotes. I've left calls with appropriate offices and have received no response. Meanwhile, my deadline is looming. Any help would be appreciated.

During a visit to my mother's fiancée's family in South Africa nearly 14 years ago, we picked up an interesting poster. If memory serves, it was large (perhaps 5x4) and showed a slow-shutter-speed closeup of a dove flying towards the viewer. Above the dove was written "The South African Police:" and below the dove it read "We're here for you".
We thought this was hilarious, as all three of us are black and at the time, the South African police force was not known to be exactly warm and friendly. The poster has since been lost during our numerous moves, and my mother never married the gentleman. But I'd like to find the poster. Does anyone remember this or know where I can look to get it?

We were recently in NYC on vacation. They almost seemed to be in parade formation, traveling on the West Side highway, going quickly. Does anyone know what we were seeing?

My university library turned vicious today when they had a policeman threaten to drag me out in handcuffs for "disorderly conduct" because I said "fucking" one time, and not loudly. He called it a "warning," but his attitude was full-bore Authoritarian Condescension. The situation is strange enough that it seems like I shouldn't just let this lie, but what is the best way to complain to the school, officially, without actually doing something brash like suing?

A motorcycle cop turned on the flashing lights and started weaving back and forth between cars on the highway. The passes kept getting wider, gradually prompting everyone to clear out of all 4 lanes and hang back about 1/4 mile behind him. Then he continued these sweeping 'S' maneuvers across the lanes for miles. By the time I had to exit, prevailing speed had dropped from 75 to 40. What was he doing, and why?
