My poker game is improving slightly--I've managed to cut out my sillier all-in Matusow-style moves in favour of a more thoughtful, measured approach, but I'm worried that I'm becoming a little too conservative on the river. Example: Last night I called an early position raise and hit a flush and straight draw with my low, one-gapper cards. He raised small amounts all the way, giving me the right price for my draw and on the river I hit my flush. Because it was a low flush, I just checked along with his final check, and he showed AA (I didn't put him on AA, because his raises were so small, almost as if he was TRYING to keep me in the pot). Afterwards, i felt silly that I had not pushed all in because he would have surely called, but my mind was too occupied with the possibility of a higher flush. Does anyone have any tips on how to know when to go for it on the river with a great hand that's not the nuts?

So, I'll be in the U.S. next week, and I'll have a free weekend, during which I'm probably heading to Las Vegas, so I'd like to: 1) See the WSOP Main Event, from the rails if possible. Is it possible? Must I get tickets or something? 2) Play some cheap (up to $75) tournaments, Texas Hold'em or Omaha Hi/Lo split. 3) Check out the nightlife, specially bars where I can have a couple of drinks and see some nice girls (hey, poker is not everything!) Any recommendations? I'm specially concerned about hotel prices, and not being allowed to the Main Event as an spectator.

So I'm playing poker (well, a poker-like game) with my family and me and my sister-in-law both get a full house. I've got 3 6's and a pair of queens. She's got 3 jacks and a pair of 10's. Which hand wins? I know the basic ranking of poker hands, but with a combination like that, which hand trumps the other, the higher pair or the higher 3-of-a-kind? We drug out the Hoyle book but couldn't find anything.

Second question of the day (visio one just below was first) hope I am not pushing my luck. Have been roped into a poker game tonight. 6 players, 4 strangers, texas holdem, never played for money with more than one person, have no poker face and no basic strategy.
