I was wondering if you could recommend any podcasts that featured interesting, new and insightful music. Preferably ones that are by musicians or producers/recording engineers.

I just posted the second episode of my podcast and alerted my friends on social media and message boards. I want to reach out to the larger world though. The podcast is freeform (inspired by WFMU, John Peel, Henry Rollins) but so far has had a general focus of avant-garde and "new music" (inspired in part by John Schaefer's New Sounds). Are there sites/communities where I can let people know I exist without making it seem like spamming?

I like to listen to a wide variety of music: classical, rock, jazz, instrumental metal, folk, video game, rap — whatever catches my ear. I also like listening to podcasts. Unfortunately, most of the music podcasts I've seen only cover music in a single genre, often with an emphasis on newer music. I'd like to find a podcast that a) spans genres and eras in a single show, and b) isn't afraid to play popular music. Does such a podcast exist? Super bonus points if there's some commentary about history and context, so that I can learn something while I listen. [more inside]

Does anyone know what the break music during the last several This Week in Science (http://www.twis.org) shows is?
I've asked around and either gotten no response or no one knows. I've tried googling the lyrics as I understand them and I get nothing.

Any suggestions for great music podcasts? I should clarify that I am looking for actual music, not podcasts where people talk about music. Also, I would like something that is updated on a semi-regular basis, at least weekly. I am open to most any genre, and would love to hear what you consider to be the best music podcast available!

Does anybody know of a good, oft-updated podcast of sung Jewish prayer? I just subscribed to a choral Episcopalian podcast, but I'd like to have one of nice Jewish songs to complement it, as that's what I grew up with. [more inside]

I would to get a better idea for the history of pop, ideally all the way from Little Richard and up to 2010, though given that there is so much to cover, shorter pieces of this history are also of interest. I guess what I'm looking for is either a podcast or a TV series - something fun and interesting, and that at the end will give me a good feel for how different genres and bands fit together, who started what, and who influenced whom.

Looking for a streaming radio station, or podcast that has upbeat music, funny samples and dj's, so I can laugh first thing in the morning during my morning routine.
But here's the rub, I'm not looking for comedy shows, or vapid commentary. Something a little more tasteful and subtle than your run of the mill morning crap that pollutes the airwaves and makes me depressed about humanity.

How much should an unknown band charge an acquaintance to use one of their songs in a podcast? Podcast is highly targeted and may initially be heard by 80-100 people.

I'm looking for good sources of creative-commons licensed, edgy rock instrumental music. A really good example of this is www.saviumsaliva.com. The music there just seems to work for the podcast that I'm working on.
I've tried Jamendo, and one other "search engine" for creative commons licensed music, but slow going. I keep hoping for the motherlode.. So far, not so much.
Anyone have any other suggestions for places to look?

I added some new music tracks to iTunes, and for some reason it thought they were podcast episodes. So it doesn't show them under 'Music'. But it's not showing them in the 'Podcasts' library either. I've deleted the music files from the Finder, but how can I clear out the tracks from my iTunes library? [more inside]

I have, over the past several years, become the individual that lots of people come to for music suggestions and to talk about music (most metal, but some other stuff). Much like the fine folks at Pandora. So I had the great thought of starting a podcast. However:
Mayhaps I'm missing something, but I can't find anything online that spells out how to start a music podcast legally. (More after the jump) [more inside]
