I want to buy a fake cat for someone who loves cats but can't have one because she lives in a nursing home. Here's what she's looking for (cribbed from a newspaper column she writes):
"I just long to hold a cat and enjoy their softness and purring. So, this is my solution: I’m going to look in Walmart for a stuffed cat that talks and meows and purrs. It must be softer than soft and I’ll call him Sammy."
seems like it would be purr... well, you know. But it's out of stock. Are there any MeFites out there who can advise me on the best fake cat for grown-ups?

I would love to buy, or possibly make, a giant Totoro plush pillow, something I could actually sleep on. If it's not big enough for me, I'd like one that would be big enough for a child to sleep on, and that I could rest on. Searching the internet at large turns up nothing, so I turn to y'all. Thanks!

I am looking for one of those plush toys that you can put your hand up and make talk, like a ventriloquist's doll. Specificially, I am looking for a cat. Is there a particular brand that caters to such things? Years ago I seem to remember there were places where you could go in, choose the "skin" of the plush toy, then stuff it yourself, name it, that sort of thing.

Please help me find my son's lovey. He received this giraffe
from my mom who brought it back along with other animals from her trip to Disney. The name on the tag is embroidered and I think it reads "strasburg". It's soft/plushy and the feet have a bit of sand in them. The other two animals from this same line is a blue elephant and a tiger - both of which rattle. They were purchased more than a year ago and he adores his giraffe and finds comfort with it. I have tried to hunt this giraffe down online for some time and haven't had any luck. As time passes, the giraffe is getting more and more worn. We'll need a replacement soon enough. TIA for any help!
