Name that style of music

Trying to put together an upbeat playlist for running and really enjoying Pharrell Williams's Happy and Janelle Monae's Tightrope. To me they have a very similar sound/style, which also sounds like some oldies (though right now I can't think of any). Is there a name for that style? [more inside]

Playlist help: NBD breakup songs

I'm starting to date (after only having been in Serious Big-Deal Relationships previously) and am having fun, not looking for anything serious. This entails a certain amount of rejection that I'm trying to keep in appropriate perspective. I'm looking for songs to compile into a playlist, on the theme of "oh well, it didn't work out, I'm still fabulous/will easily survive." These are not Big Heartbreak songs, just "eh, too bad, no big deal." Ingrid Michaelson's "Girls Chase Boys" is the perfect example of this. Do you have other suggestions? [more inside]

Songs for your true love/arch-nemesis.

Software to automate/schedule playback within a playlist

Need advice from desktop productivity nerds, radio nerds, MP3 playlist nerds, and general problem solving nerds. I volunteer at a community FM radio station. Everything we play is a stream from a Winamp playlist (look inside for the reasons for this). We need a piece of software (or a creative solution) that can be automated to jump to a place in a playlist and then schedule itself from there. Very complex details inside. [more inside]

Conscious Pop Music Hits of 2012-2014 for Play-List, Suggestions Needed

"Same Love" by Macklemore is the epitome of a conscious (social, environmental justice) pop music song that has been a hit over the past two years. I'm looking for others to create a playlist - pop music songs that have been hits with a socially environmentally conscious message, or at least are not misogynist or violent in any way - talk about love, relationships, etc in a respectful way. Can you make any suggestions? Thx!

Songs that say "Hey!"

Please help me thrill my 4 year old daughter with suggestions of songs that have the singer saying "Hey!" more than once. She told us awhile back that she loves songs that have "Hey!" in them, so I want to make a playlist of "Hey!" songs. The "Hey!" should be punctuated and repeated at least once - preferably more than once. The songs don't have to be songs for children, but should be at least semi-appropriate for 4 year olds (i.e. profanity is out, but innuendo that they won't understand until they are much older is ok). Some examples of stuff that we already have: "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" by the Beatles, "She" by the Monkees, "Get Off Of My Cloud" by the Rolling Stones, a couple traditional Greek songs. Any genre or time period is fine! ULTIMATE FOUR YEAR OLD HEY! PLAYLIST - GO!

Advice sought for Classical music to listen to when studying

Advice sought for upbeat Classical music to listen to when studying. I seem to really enjoy the violin and the cello. I like some of Yo-Yo Ma and the Red Violin soundtrack. But, I do not like the classical music that is depressing and too slow -like some of the baroque. I am looking for the type of classical music one would hear in ballet. The kind that inspires and lifts you up, and makes you happy...that is simply beautiful. Do you know what I mean Hive Mind? Thanks!! So please give me a playlist
