I have a lot of travel coming up this holiday season. I'm looking for two player games that I can play with Mrs Mars on a plane. Few parts or cards only would be best, and simple rules are a must.
My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's. She loves (and has always loved) music. But her old CD player just broke. I need to find a new CD player that is as simple as possible to use. Ideally, it would have just three buttons--open/close (to insert the CD), play, and stop--and it would be possible to connect it to external speakers (with or without a receiver is ok). She has excellent speakers and a huge CD collection. Can you suggest a specific player that meets these conditions? [more inside]
I am thinking of getting my mum an mp3 player for Christmas so that she can listen to audiobooks - she likes books on tape, but the library doesn't stock many of them now, and she finds CDs hard to use. I've not bought one for years - any advice? Some more details inside! [more inside]
I have a lot of digital music files in a lot of different formats. MP3, m4a, AAC, FLAC. I currently use iTunes and I mostly dislike it. I need to start over and find a solution for organizing and playing my 500(?) GB of music. [more inside]
I need to get a recording made onto a 3.5" floppy from a roughly 1995 Yamaha baby grand player piano onto a CD the normal problems with old, unfamiliar technology apply here. [more inside]
An older relative with a daily train commute has requested a music player for the holidays - but they don't want anything with extra features, novel menus, or - if it can be helped - a shuffle feature. All they want is the ability to listen to an entire album (from a selection of about 20) with very clear and easy to understand menus and buttons. They were given a Zune for this purpose a few years ago and returned it saying it was confusing and had "too many settings". What should I buy? [more inside]
Just wondering if I should get a streaming media player, such as Apple TV or Roku? [more inside]
I have an old late 60's / early 70's console stereo system and the turntable is broken. The thing is a beast and it's impossible for me to bring in somewhere for repair. I've asked everyone I know, but no one knows of any place that makes house calls. [more inside]
I just bought a 2000 VW Golf, which has a cassette player. Can anyone recommend a convertor to play music from my iPhone? The best review I've seen is for the Sony, but there is still a lot of criticism. Please recommend the best option, whether it is the Sony, or another. Thank you.
I'm trying out Captivate 8's new responsive designs and HTML5 output and am very annoyed with how smartphones handle the HTML5 video. For now, I'm setting up alternate, video-free content for the Mobile breakpoint. But the huge size of modern phones means that their landscape viewports are often as wide or wider than the portrait viewports of proper tablets. Is there any way I can set up alternate content based on a device being a phone (popping out video in its own player) versus a tablet (displaying video like a civilized device)? [more inside]

Do you know of any tabletop RPGs that work really well with 2 players? I've recently started playing tabletop RPG games and I enjoy playing with my partner. Are there any games which are particularly suited to this? Either 1 player and GM or GMless games are fine and I prefer storytelling games that offer character development as well as adventure.
Looking for recommendations for a very easy to use boombox-type CD player for my elderly mother. [more inside]
I have this old record player. When it reaches the end of an LP record side, the arm returns to play from the beginning. But goes to the wrong spot, as if trying to play a 45, even though the speed is set to LP. Is there something I can adjust to make it start at the beginning?
What are the best collaborative 2-player video games? My husband and I played Mario Galaxy 2 and it was perfect - he player Mario and I played "Starfy" and it worked out great. Are there more games like that for 2 players, where one player (aka me) can be kind of bad at video games? We have a Wii, some computers and are considering getting an Xbox One in the next few months..
Can one post a specific video from YouTube or Vimeo to my account at either playlist, by email or some other automated process?
Hi, I have a new Cowon iAUDIO 9 portable. The lossless files I rip from Windows Media Player end up the same size on the device after synced. However, the device doesn't have a way to check the bitrate of any song. But it's acknowledged (not yet directly to me by the slow-to-reply makers in South Korea) that the device does NOT support WMA-Lossless, only everybody's precious FLAC. It will PLAY WMA, but usually on players like this the bitrate is 320. [more inside]
I recently dated this guy whom I have to admit I liked him a lot for the sex in spite of everything else I hated about him. He is your definition of a player, he is hot and cold, talks to you one weekend, and not talk to you the next. After three months of hot and cold behaviors, I have finally decided to let him go but inside I am still hurting. Any heart to heart advice? [more inside]
Anyone know of an simple, reliable audio player for Android that can stream audio from a regular URL, and will continue streaming with the screen off? [more inside]
So, I'm an audiobook junky and my current mp3 player is starting to go. My past few MP3 players have been various models of the SanDisk Sansa lines (e260, Fuze) which I've been moderately happy with. I'm not confident that the new Fuze+ models are particularly good based on the reviews. So I turn to the green for advice. [more inside]
Any way to speed up mp3 loading to audio player? My computer says it will take 13 hours. Is there any way to speed this up? I'm running Windows 7 with 2.0 USB connection. Thanks so much, hive mind peeps.
Looking for a basic DVD + Blu-Ray player with HDMI. Doesn't need any kind of network streaming (TV and other devices handle that already). Ideally under $100. Am okay with buying used off craigslist or something if the model is known to be pretty reliable. Suggestions?

I've got LG BD 390 Blu-Ray networked DVD player. Wondering if there's a way to stream/share movies (in various formats) from my Mac wirelessly to the DVD player. Not sure if this requires special software, etc.
Please recommend to me a new turntable with the following qualities: sounds great to a non-audiophile, less than €400, available in Europe, has a 33/45 switch and auto-stop at the end of the side, and 33cm or less in depth with the cover off. [more inside]

I'm looking for the MP3-player equivalent of the boom-box, a player that has built-in amp and speakers. Can you recommend one? [more inside]
Can I please have advice/recommendations on buying a portable media player? (preferably non- name brand). My main usages will be watching poker training videos (available in mp4 and WMV formats), and reviewing poker hand histories which are in a txt format. Presumably I want a player with a long battery life (is 8 hours too much to ask?) So I'm looking for something that does these things, but I don't need it for anything else, (no wi-fi, 3G etc). Something that will suit my needs but won't cost a whole lot.
My beloved CD/DVD player (a five-disc carousel model) conked out last night after eight years of faithful service. I'd like to get one with much the same functionality to replace it, but apparently things have changed drastically in the home video market since 2003. Who knew? Help me figure out what kind of machine I need to buy. [more inside]

How can I (click) Why does my MP3 player play a snippet from the future when going to the next track?
A number of MP3 players I've owned have had a similar glitch: occasionally, when switching tracks, a brief (less than one second) snippet of the song *after* the upcoming track will play. Sometimes, it's from the same track, but later in the song. What causes this?
Hello! I'm looking for a simple solution to turn my 64GB USB Thumb Drive into a portable MP3 player. Nothing fancy, simple display, controls, and small screen. I have Microsoft Sync in my new car, and a laptop that I travel with. Seems like it would be easy to keep all my mp3s on one thumb drive and take it with me rather than having multiple copies floating about on all devices. There used to be an old Lexar & I believe a Sandisk product that allowed for this. Anyone aware of anything more recent or that supports all 64GB? Thank you in advance. PS. My USB drive is not one of those fancy encrypted ones, so it works in every device I've tried it in.
I would like to add video to a scrapbook/photoalbum. What device could best do this, cheaply? I have a Sansa Fuze mp3 player, which is small and can play video, but when turning it on, a reader would have to know how/where to navigate menus to find the videos. Is there anything small, battery powered, and cheap, that when activated, either automatically starts playing the video, or simply presents the reader with a list of videos to choose from?
