I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. I use it to listen to music. But the music player is set up to include a brief gap between each track. This is particularly a nuisance when I'm listening to albums with segued tracks (such as live albums). How can I set it up so there are no gaps between tracks?

I recently recovered the Windows XP (Home) SP2 installation on my VAIO VGN FS415E now I no longer have sound when I play video through my Firefox (or IE for that matter) browser. My system is fully patched with the latest versions of all software. I also have the Windows Media Player plugin for firefox installed. The video itself plays fine (in both FF and IE), but no sound. Can you help?

I need to optimize x264, VC-1, etc. playback. Forgive me if I'm missing the glaringly obvious, but I have been googling for over an hour and haven't found anything. Most of the guides I've found are more geared towards encoding. I'm looking for a conclusive source on how to configure my computer for the smoothest and least-CPU intensive playback of next-gen HD codecs (yes, even accepting small reductions in picture quality!).

I'm looking for something that will be able to play back either an uncompressed WAVE file or that will record an actual audio signal for later playback. It has to be totally shock/shake-proof, and it must be able to automatically stop after every track/file and wait for input to start again. Preservation of sound quality is absolutely essential. If any of you have experience with such a device, please share.

Does this device exist: standalone video player with a builtin harddrive, component video outs, menu system & remote, ethernet/wifi. Does not rely on computer in the house. Can be turned off/made silent like a normal device when I'm not using it. But when it's on I can watch shows and movies I've transferred to it over the network without excessive hacks-- hopefully it can decode most common video formats and play in HD if necessary. Does not need video in--I don't want a recorder.

I downloaded a video of a
space shuttle launch from the Internet Archive for classroom use. Because my bandwidth at university is massive I opted for the 400MB 'HDTV' file.
But – you guessed it – I can't get it to play. All I get is a green smear across the bottom of the WMP playback window. I've tried using QuickTime and the media player with the coffee bean logo in Mandriva (the name temporarily escapes me). I've googled like mad but I'm swamped with information.
My best guess is that I need a new codec of some sort but the only one I can find is 'Newtek HDTV' which is included in one of the (huge) codec packs that are available and I'd rather not clog up my system with codecs I'm never going to use.

I'm new to the wonderful world of DVDs, and am at a bit of a loss. A friend recently installed a PD dual format drive on my Win2000 machine, and successfully burned a test disc. However, when I go to play a purchased DVD, I receive an error message stating that I don't have a compatible encoder installed. I could choose and install one, but quite frankly, I'd be picking one at random. Help me out and suggest a good one? If more system info is needed, please just let me know...

My dance group is looking for a way to play CDs at variable speeds. There are a few
variable speed CD players on the market, or, it's likely that a laptop could be used to play CDs and .mp3s at variable speed. (Variable speed is really useful for teaching dances.) We have raised $600 so far. Experiences? Recommendations?
