Looking for an inventory of street design

Lost Website Filter: I have a vague memory of a website with an inventory of urban street design options. It had photos and commentary on T-intersections, streets with curves, streets with Big Fancy Buildings framed in arches or gates... an organized collection focused on the aesthetic feel of urban design from the street level. It talked about street design almost like interior design — using buildings to create 'rooms' on the street that could feel expansive or intimate. [more inside]

Help me plan an awesome pre-baby vacation. Details inside....

This is a multi-part question: My wife and I are going on vacation in February. We want to go either to the Caribbean or to Europe but cannot decide (I know, I know...these two really have nothing in common). What are the pros and cons of these two destinations in February? The Caribbean: which island? We're not looking for a "spring break" kind of a feel or huge crowds. Which island(s) has the nicest beaches, some cultural activities and good restaurants? Europe: Paris or Italy? We know February isn't ideal, but is there anything we should know about these two that would exclude them from the short list?

Pick A Place To Party

I want to rent an event space in NYC. Where do I start? It's basically a wedding reception without the wedding, I'd like it to hold about eighty people, with an open bar and using my own caterers. It should be three hours booked at least. I'd like it in Manhattan but totally open to nearer Brooklyn and Queens. What do I need to know and where should I go in getting a space for late October? Your tips for feeding four cats while I'm out of town?

Overnight is one thing, but how can I make sure my four feline snowflakes get proper nutrition while their humans are off on a three-day cross-country jaunt? Given we've got one cat with food intolerances, one super-picky princess, one food-snatcher, and one with what the vet has described as a "highly efficient colon" (meaning she needs wet food every day), things are going to need a bit more consideration and prep-work than just leaving a big bowl of crunchies out. Please, kittyfolks, share your wisdoms! [more inside]

Help me make my garden tastier

I've never had a garden before. I recently bought a house in Canberra with a small established garden, mainly native Australian plants. It has a drip watering system. There isn't a lot of room, but there are a few things I have always wanted to grow, and I've got no idea whether it is possible to fit them in somehow, or where I should put them. I know I can't do anything until just before spring, but I want to start planning now. [more inside]

Driving around Detroit, MI

I have business in the Bloomfield Hills suburb of Detroit in a couple of weeks. Google Maps gives me two routes from the airport car rental to my destination with roughly the same travel time and a third that appears slightly longer. Which is best in terms of ease of navigation for a solo driving Detroit area newb, safe road conditions (especially if it snows), and likelihood that the travel time is accurate (i.e. not prone to massive unexpected delays)?
