This is basically an "am I being reasonable or should I just stfu" question. My sister and I are both getting married within the next 24 months (she wanted a long engagement to plan an elaborate wedding; I'm having a long engagement because she doesn't want me to get married before her) and already we are running into problems re: expectations for travel, spending, and scheduling. In the midst of wedding planning and I am not sure how to resolve this particular issue. We finally found and booked a venue that we like and where we could bring in an outside caterer. Our caterer happens to be a BYO restaurant. Our venue allows us to serve alcohol but requires proof of insurance. Particularly, Host Liquor Liability insurance for $500,000. Since the caterer is a BYO, he does not have this coverage. How do I go about getting the required insurance? I know there are third party insurance providers. Is this where I should turn to? [Located in Philadelphia, the venue is a township owned building, the wedding date in Summer 2015]
We have booked a big room for our wedding, and I would like to produce a professional looking room plan. Any suggestions for good software? What do event planners use? I have experience with drafting software but only expensive programs like AutoCAD that I don't currently have access to. Mac or PC is fine.
I make and sell bow ties and other wedding-ish related mens' accessories, and I've been invited to vend at an upcoming wedding market event. I've never planned a wedding (Mrs. usonian and I eloped) nor attended a wedding expo in my life, and have no idea what to expect in terms of how people shop at these things. [more inside]
I know of many online plan your own wedding sites, but what I'm looking for is one which I can host on a server of my own, probably some sort of PHP/MySQL based affair that will manage things like the RSVP, menu choices, gift lists etc, and also allow me to send emails to specific groups such as "Family of Groom, Family of Bride, Bridesmaids, Catering Staff" etc etc.

I want to rent an event space in NYC. Where do I start? It's basically a wedding reception without the wedding, I'd like it to hold about eighty people, with an open bar and using my own caterers. It should be three hours booked at least. I'd like it in Manhattan but totally open to nearer Brooklyn and Queens. What do I need to know and where should I go in getting a space for late October? 36 hours in Maine this weekend with a rental car. I am thinking of not getting a hotel room and instead car-camping. I'll be in Camden Maine for a wedding Friday and Saturday and plan to return to Boston late on Saturday to take a bus to DC. I want to spend as much of Friday wandering around Portland before driving to Camden and kind of want to spend the morning in Portland on Saturday, too. Is this a good idea? Any tips on quiet places to park and snooze?

Mefibrarians and Mefi-Seattlites: Help us plan the dorkiest wedding ever. So we didn't end up making fancy dinner for my birthday on Friday, planning instead to put it off until Sunday, but that is OK because instead I got an engagement ring. Is there any good Wedding planning software or web services out there? I'm looking for something like Business Plan Pro or Basecamp, but for weddings.
