New York City Wedding Planner

Can you recommend a good wedding planner for a New York City wedding? Can anyone offer recommendations or advice about finding a good wedding planner who works in Manhattan?

I'm looking for someone
(1) to make sure the day-of goes smoothly
(2) to help separate the wheat from the chaff on vendors, locations, and service providers - but with freedom to pick our own vendors independently if we want to
(3) to allow us to plan the religious part of the ceremony completely independently
(4) to reduce our stress by making sure we don't forget anything
(5) to respect the vision that we already have for the wedding and make it happen - we need help with implementation details, not the overall design

We strongly prefer traditional/elegant to trendy. We are willing to spend money to get someone good.

Any thoughts, warnings, suggestions? General advice about picking a planner or other sites where reliable reviews of wedding planners are posted would also be helpful.

Looking for time-planning software for a busy dog walker

Looking for time-planning software for a busy dog walker My girlfriend's dog-walking business is busy, and it's taking a long time each night to plan the next day's walks. I'm looking for any kind of time-planning software that can help. Essentially the problem is to find the best solution to a set of constraints:

Dog A has to be picked up between 10am and 12am and walked for 1 hour
Dog B has to be picked up between 10am and 1pm and walked for 30 minutes

etc.etc.

At the moment she is planning her schedule by hand which is taking a long time. It seems to me that this is a job for a computer. I'm kind of resigned to writing some software myself to solve this problem, but any hints would be appreciated.

Travelplan2.0

Looking for a website that helps me plan a 5-day vacation in detail. A lot of travel websites out there, but all of them seem focused on either a) booking and price hunting, or b) diaries.

I'd like to think there's a site that let's me add all the restaurants, sights, shops and events I find researching an upcoming trip (NYC if it matters) so I can make a day-by-day plan, complete with maps and notes.

Is there such a website? Or do you have any other suggestions on how I could plan our trip in an easy way?

Extra points for suggestions that let's me keep a mobile version of the schedule online.

Where is that annual productivity calendar?

I'm looking for a printable calendar template. A while ago I saw one on a productivity blog somewhere but darn... didn't bookmark. The one I saw was a non-traditional yearly (monthly?) planner type. It may have been an excel template or similar. It was a vertical calendar that looked sort of like a list, not the traditional rectangular month with boxes. I need to put more than one month on a page. Even a printable pdf will work - I don't need downloadable software or anything. I'll be using it for staff scheduling and planning ad campaigns. It doesn't have to have a lot of space to write, just enough room for a first name. The ability to print quarterly per page or 6 months per page would be ideal. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I could create one in excel but the one I remember was already in a great format. thanks!

Daily planner, no lines, not leather

Please help me find the perfect dayplanner for my sister with a bunch of requirements. -She wants something to fit in her purse, so not a desk one.
-one page per day, not weekly
-not leather
-no little lines (blank space is better or wide lines, no hourly stuff)
-no inspirational quotes
-yes holidays (especially Jewish ones)
-she would prefer one that had some sort of closure like a snap or button or elastic
-not a boring cover (this one I think she has to just let go. I think I'll put a sticker on it or decorate it or something)

My budget is $100 or less.
In NY or online is fine.

I've read the other planner questions and the harvard ones, moleskine ones, franklin covey, etc. don't seem to have daily planners without all the little lines. This is driving me nuts! Now I am thinking she is having me get this for her because she already tried and not found anything...

Help me buy this thing.

Anyone know where I can buy this planner online in Canada? I have searched for this square planner on and off for 6 years and have only successfully found it once in 2005. Back then I found it at Grand & Toy which no longer carries it. I have found U.S. retailers online that will ship to Canada but with huge delivery costs. Anyone know an online Canadian retailer? Or know of a store that carried it?

Please don't make me use a normal shaped planner AGAIN. My heart may not be able to take it.

Notepad? Honestly?

I am looking for a good menu planner/template that fulfills what I think are pretty basic features. About once a week I create a weekly menu (mainly for dinners) for my boyfriend and myself. I create this using... Notepad.

I list the ingredients needed for shopping at the top and all the recipes below. It works ok but I wish I could use something a bit snazzier to reuse past "hits" and such. Right now, I don't even save the files because I usually do this at my work computer at the end of the day.

What I would like:
- Allow me to enter my OWN recipes (I usually cut and paste them from recipes linked in my del.icio.us account)
- Let me reuse them easily.
- Let me create a separate list for ingredients shopping (if it could pull them out of the recipes, that would be awesome!)
- Save weekly menus
- Online access

Nice to have:
- Keep track of how often I use particular recipes
- Budgeting options where I can enter grocery totals

Most solutions I've checked out so far make me use their own database of recipes or suggest their own meals, which some people may like but I find restrictive.

Oh and I'd like this to be Free!

I need a replacement organizer for school.

I am looking for a new academic planner, but I have some picky requirements. Can anyone help? The past two semesters of school I've been using this amazing planner I got for Christmas last year to keep organized in my classes. It really ended up helping me stay organized since I am both taking a ton of difficult courses, and in the school ROTC and band. Unfortunately, when I went to reorder the planner around a month ago, I was informed it was discontinued, and that it had "no recommended replacement". My planner was an At-A-Glance Cambridge planner that was essentially a full-sized version of this. (This one is way too small to be of any use, though.)

Now, here's where things get tricky. I've been trying to find a replacement, but what made my last planner so awesome is apparently really hard to find. You see, what made my planner so useful was that the second page of each week had a copious "To-Do" section and a "Notes" section, which is how I ultimately organized all of my work (assignments listed under the to-do section, with assignment details under the notes, etc). You can see this same organization in the smaller example above.

However, when shopping for a new planner, I haven't been able to find anything even remotely similar. I've gone to all the brick-and-mortar office supplies places and been googling my little heart away, to no avail. The closest thing I've been able to find is this one but the weekly notes section still isn't big enough to be quite what I need, and the large monthly notes section doesn't quite compensate. Not to mention it's a July-June planner (though I'm starting to care less and less about that).

So, can anyone help me out? To sum it all up, I'd like a full size weekly/monthly planner with a large notes and to-do section (or something equivalent) for each week. School starts in two weeks and I'm getting desperate.

Financial Planner (not advisor!) South of Boston?

Searching for a financial planner south of Boston. Any suggestions? I am looking for a financial planner (not a financial advisor) south of Boston near Weymouth, Hingham. I did a search on a few sites and a lot of them seem to want assets of $200K or more before they will even talk to you.

Most likely looking for a fee based advisor since I don't want them to be biased.

Primarily I need this person to help get my wife's and my finances in order as we prepare to move forward with a house and other activities. Find out what a professional thinks we should be doing rather than my assumptions based on a bunch of reading and occasional investing.

iPhone, Smartphone or PDA

Smartphone, iPhone, or PDA? Weighted list of needs and wants inside, as I am pretty uneducated about these things. I've been using a Palm m500 since, oh, 2002 or earlier. Before that I had a previous incarnation of the Palm. Now the m500 is barely keeping a charge, and as I'm about to move back to the US I am also in the market for a new cell phone.

Ideally, I'd like to have a 2-in-1 combo, cell phone and handheld planner, but I'm also interested in a wireless internet device as well. Since I've been out of the market for a PDA for the past six years, though, I have no idea what's available and what might best suit my needs.

I'm lusting after an iPhone but I'm not sure it's my best option and I'm trying to think about it rationally instead of letting my lust do the shopping.

So here is what I'd like:

Most important: phone and full-featured planner

My cell phone will be my only phone, but I'm not really picky about excellent quality. Most of my US family uses AT&T so the iPhone's mobile-to-mobile is nice, but I also have icky feelings about AT&T's politics.

In addition, I travel a lot, so good roaming and a good options for international plans are pretty important.

I am really comfortable with Palm's datebook program. I'm playing around with iCal, which I like, but I'm also concerned that iCal on the iPhone is not as fully featured as what I'm used to, mostly the ability to add and delete tasks while on the go.

I require syncing with my laptop. I am a Mac user, so Windows Mobile devices are unattractive. I am open to open source, I like Palm, and I like iCal.

Second most important: wireless internet.

Not just email, but surfing too, and wifi capability, since I don't want to pay out the nose for data. I understand iPhone's EDGE network is not as good as 3G.

Least important: other features such as mp3 player, bluetooth, modem, etc. The only exception here would be a camera. A camera would be nice but it's not as important as the other qualities.

I guess, basically, I want an iPhone but I just need to know how well the iCal program works and syncs with a laptop and how likely it is that I would be able to use it while traveling overseas. Are there better options for my needs than the iPhone? Or, is there any chance a second gen iPhone will be released soon?

Needed: Seattle Area Financial Planner

Seattle Filter: Looking for a Financial Planner to assist twenty-something newlyweds with combining finances, investment strategies, etc. Anyone know of a good financial planner in the Seattle area? I've read the previous threads, checked NAPFA's site, and done my homework, but before I called someone out of the blue I thought I'd see if anyone had previous experience with someone they liked/trusted/would recommend.

My new wife and I are both under 25 and realize that if we can get a jump start now on saving for retirement, kids' college funds, home ownership, etc. then it'll pay off (literally) later in life. We're not so much interested in debt management since our credit is great and our student loans are low interest, however CD's, Roth IRA's, 401k's, Mutual Funds, etc. are all things we're looking to consult a professional on. Preferably a fee-only adviser with 5 yrs. + experience.

Know anyone that fits this criteria in the Seattle area?

How can I schedule my shopping and meals better?

Are there existing websites/wikis out there with shopping+recipe planning lists? I want to shop once or twice a week for food and not have to worry about spoilage. The ideal site would have: buy [shopping list] to make [daily recipes for meals]. I can cook just about anything, but I always end up with mismatched foods in the fridge that don't work together.

I found some books online for this, but want to just try it for a bit first before I buy a bunch of books and find out I don't like the recipes or barely ever use. My web searches only turn up web applications that let you input your plan.

I'm looking to create and manage a multi-day educational technology conference, which would include presentations and forums, meetings, exhibits, tours of local schools and networking sessions. The conference would likely be held in a major city.

I don't know if a traditional event planner would necessarily be a good fit because of the size (anywhere between 250 and 1000 attendees) and scope.

Are there individuals or companies that do this kind of work ?
