Noah Gallagher Shannon has
a piece in Sunday's NYT about an emergency landing at Philadelphia. Something about the story makes me think that it might be fictional. Can anybody prove that the story took place as he describes it?

Early May revelry-filled weekend excursion from NYC to Montreal for a group of roughly 12 20-somethings. We see time advantages to flying (provided all goes smoothly) but cost disadvantages. We see cost advantages to driving ourselves, but would like to minimize our personal stress and maximize fun. We see personal stress and maximum fun advantages to being driven, but have no experience with long-distance transporation charter and are unclear on whether this would be cheaper than flying. Any suggestions / experiences?

I took an introductory flight lesson and liked it a lot. Now what? Learning to fly an airplane seems expensive, time consuming, and mostly pointless. Yet I liked it.

My friend, a Canadian citizen, is visiting me here in Chicago. First day here, she had her messenger bag with her passport (and all her cash, and her laptop) stolen. Where the hell do we go from here? How do you get a Canadian with no ID a Canadian passport? How does she board her flight in a few days?

I remember seeing this amazing picture gallery of some guy's travels with his small plane via some link aggregating site/blog a few years ago, but can't find it now. The guy had landed his plane in all sorts of amazing landscapes (mostly in North America, I think), and taken pictures. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

I need some well-written and very suspenseful books to take my mind off of a 25-hour flight. Donna Tartt's "The Secret History" is the ideal book, but alas, I've already read it. I also need two-person travel sized games.

Is there a website like Kayak, but with the option to filter by the airline that
operates the flight (i.e. to exclude codeshares)? Or is it possible to do this on Kayak? I have some United credit to spend, and it's proving non-trivial because I can't spend it on flights operated by Continental et al.

Taking my wedding dress on a plane- Help!
I have two options:
1) Take it in the bag and hope that the plane will hang it up in first class even though i am sitting in coach
2) Pack it in my bag (its fairly small and lace) and get it steamed somewhere on the other end. Where can you get things steamed? Do they do that at dry cleaner?
What do you recommend?
Thank you!!

Why does my lower back hurt and what can I do about it? I took a trip to Asia 2 days ago, and now while laying down my lower back (and hips) is incredibly painful, but other times it doesn't hurt. It feels like it's being pulled apart when I lay down in ANY position. It seemed like the plane trip is somehow what aggravated it.

Was that a Stealth plane? UFO? Anyone see it? On Wednesday 12/15 my SO in Northern Staten Island saw something in the sky heading South from NYC. She said it was a triangle, very fast and she heard no sound like a jet or chopper. No news reports, nothing on Notify NYC. Maybe it was going to McGuire AFB?

How can I rotate an object in Maya while it's on a path and automatically banking? I'm currently making an animation involving a paper airplane, and I have it set to bank automatically, but I would like it to fly upside down at one point, and briefly turn on its side at another. I'm very new to paths in Maya, and whatever I try to do usually ends up making the plane rotated for the entire animation. Ideally I'd like to be able to keyframe a rotation while still having the paper plane following the path and banking normally. Is this possible?
