Have car, seek roadtrip and adventure! What are some secret/mythical/mysterious/epic places in WA state (or nearby states), that would be a destination fit for pilgrimage? Centralia / Silent Hill is in PA. The Abyss is in SC, Area51 is in NV, Mesa Verde is in CO, Barringer Crater is in AZ, etc etc. What mysterious secret places can be pried from the Northwest? How do I travel the West Coast by rail for cheap? I have the general plan mapped out (I want to go north... or south?). I most certainly will see people and places in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego. Hopefully in a semi-linear fashion with interesting walk-abouts in between. The Pilgrimage of St James, also known as the Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela - involves walking for about 800km across northern spain. I've seen a few faq's online, but what i'd really like is some advice from a fellow mefite who has actually done all or part of this trail.
Also, some general advice on hiking very long distances would be appreciated also.
