I want to be less flabby. I cannot afford to join a gym or get a personal trainer. Does it sound like strength training will work for me?

I am looking for a web site or book that someone here can recommend detailing ALL major stretches for the hips and lower body that also shows anatomical diagrams of exactly what is being stretched by the stretches. I have seen some good stuff on the net, but i am looking for a complete list with anatomical diagrams. If it is only hips, thats OK too. Thank You.

Has anyone had a good experience with any of the group class instructors at New York Sports Club? I am trying to find a Pilates class there, and most of the instructors don't appear to know what they're doing.

How do you choose a good pilates studio? I'm a total pilates beginner; what should I be looking for in a studio? Or, if you're in Toronto, do you know a good pilates studio in or near the Annex?

Tell me about some great yoga or Pilates teachers in DC who work with older students. My mom has chronic pain issues, arthritis and osteoporosis. We would like to work with someone to set up a gentle routine that she can do at home.

Ladies and Pilates - question about unintended sounds during class. I know it's normal but is there any way to clamp down to quiet down once in a while? This doesn't seem to happen as much during yoga, and it doesn't matter if I've had sex recently or not.

Yes, another physical fitness question. I, like some others in the green of late, need to find my fitter self. I am going to turn 35 on Sunday, have two beautiful and energetic young daughters, and so…my lack of fitness is bumming me out, man.

Fitness advice: I'm on a long term weight loss program (~2lbs/week.) 32lbs into it, I'm starting to think that I'd better do more than Dance Dance Revolution if I don't want to become one of those skin-saggy people from Ripley's Believe It Or Not. I'm considering either Tae Bo or Pilates for at-home exercise, and would like testimonials or suggestions for other programs.
