As of this writing, North Korea has had two Internet outages in 48 hours. A lot of people seem to watch when Internet service goes down for countries and companies. But I don't recall anyone saying North Korea's Internet had gone down until within the last couple of days. Has anyone reported North Korea's Internet going down in the past?
Have used the photo site Imgur, as thousands do..Lately, though, it no longer works for me, though it does for many others. I am told, via search on net, to empty cache, to close down addons, etc but that has not helped. Have written Imgur for help but no answer...Many others seem also to have this problem too but not everyone..Is there a quick and simple fix (I have no tech background) that might get Imgur working again for me?
Okay, so I just got back from a long vacation, where I took something like 5,000 photos. How do I sort, refine, process, and organize them? [more inside]

Does anyone have any recommendations on what scanner to purchase to scan some photos and negatives? Some of the pictures that I want to scan are older than I am and I was hoping that I could scan these pictures and negatives and then use the program called Aperture to fix some of the imperfections on the pictures. The other thing is that the amount of pictures I have to scan are immense. The number of pictures and negatives will be in the thousands. While this seems like an overwhelming task, I want to be able to show my future children all of their relatives that are no longer with us. I don't want to spend a fortune, but if there are scanners that can facilitate doing this quickly I am willing to save up money to make a good investment that can get this huge project done more quickly. If anyone has any suggestions, please post.
I have known this girl for about 8 months. She has put a lot of pressure on me to meet her parents and wants to see my parents as well. In the beginning of our relationship she told me that she was done with dating and the last person she wants to be intimate with should ideally be her husband. She said that she dated two other people in the past and I am the third one. Since she was 30 years old and her number was too low to me, I asked her if she met other people in between her serious relationships and she said yes but she claimed she was not intimate with them. Anyways I did not care about her number as long as she was honest with me. [more inside]

I feel kink of embarassed but last day, I used my bf's camera to take pictures and when viewing the pictures I took, I saw that my boyfriend took pictures of our hot-looking neighbor when she was in her room changing, brushing her hair, etc. It was at night, the curtain in her room were not closed. He also took pictures of her underwears (bra and panties) hanging outside... [more inside]

My wife loves this picture, which I've seen on various social sites, and I'd like to get a nice hard-copy print of it matted for her birthday. Can anyone help source it? My google-fu is failing me.
My child is 7 and when he was younger, had no trouble smiling (or looking serious) for pictures. But now he gives a horrible grimace...thing. He's been at camp all summer and they take pictures of the kids and post them on Flickr. Paging through it is painful. Cute kid, cute kid...oh hey, my kid with a frightening stretched-face chimp-grimace and slitted eyes. Every fucking picture. It looks like a sneer. [more inside]

I'm trying to get an idea of WHICH areas of Creative Commons I can draw from on Flickr. I work for a state doing something that, while noncommercial, does support business in a way. I want to use creative commons pix for a website we're putting up. So attribution, I get. That's easy. The others I'm not sure about - as a government office are we, by dint of our setup, considered non-commercial? And the non-deriviative works...does that mean we can't even crop it? And I completely don't understand "share alike" at all. Does that mean if we use THOSE photos we have to let anyone have our website template and content (which would be our only original work) for free with complete unrestricted use?

It's when "words fall away to pictures" occasionally , perhapps particularly when reading the text of physical books, usually novels, of a large size. It doesn't happen with reading online or e-book readers or textbooks. It's as if the visual imagination (without deliberate activation) overrides what's actually been seen by the eyes, so that the story unfolding is actually being "watched" in the mind's eye in an immersive, vivid way where one becomes virtually unaware of the actual text print and the outside world (so it's not even like watching a movie in a cinema, where there is more consciousness of the real surroundings). This is not just getting immersed in reading - the strong, and not deliberately activated, visualization is crucial. Based on anecdotal evidence, what I'm describing (not from my personal experience) appears to be a rarer rather than a common experience. Anyone have ideas what this neurological (?) trait might be?
I help this sweet old lady with computer stuff. She's running Windows 7 and uses an SBC account "powered by Yahoo!" (terribly out-of-date interface). She often receives emails with family photos from her daughter-in-law's iPhone. She CAN download them, and I'm teaching her how to wade through the attachment-folders that seems to create (for virus-scanning I presume) and then copy them over to her Pictures folder, where she can organize them. However, they are often rotated incorrectly because of some iPhone - Windows issue, and they are often checked "Read-Only"... [more inside]
