Help me learn piano on a budget. I have always wanted to learn, and now I am 31 and tired of just wishing! Problem is, money is tight, so I am looking for suggestions on how to teach myself on the cheap (if that's possible). [more inside]

I've searched desperately and extensively for reviews on digital pianos and find them lacking. Please share your experiences with looking for pianos and/or your (dis)satisfaction with your digital piano. Differences between brands welcomed.
I'm looking for an 88-key portable digital piano that feels and sounds most like a real, acoustic piano, I don't care about bells and whistles. The only thing is it must have USB/MIDI ports.

AdMusicFilter: Beautiful, haunting piano music from mid-90s Serta commercial. Google is only marginally helpful, and this search has been driving me nuts for over a decade now. Description and best-guess results are inside.
Note: Search terms should include "-sheep" as this predates that campaign. [more inside]

(Posting for a friend): I just bought a keyboard, and I would like to learn a little piano-playing. Is there any free or cheap software that can hand-hold me through it? Are there any websites that offer beginning piano lessons?

Have you ever had a piano moved professionally? About how much did it cost? I'll be calling around for estimates as soon as I get out of work, but am trying to find a ballpark figure before I do. [more inside]

Inspired by this
question: I have the sheet music to Steve Reich's MUSIC FOR 18 INSTRUMENTS. I bought it to understand the piece better. But, the individual parts played by themselves sound nothing like the actual piece. I am not a good enough pianist to create a full piano transcription of the piece. Does anyone have any advice as to how to play excerpts from this score but still have it sound like Reich? ( Maybe someone who knows the piece better than I do.)

Where to play piano for free in NYC just once? A out-of-town friend wants to play piano in NYC: are there public spaces with pianos? A way to play at a church? (And note: I just mean play for playing sake, not play for an audience.)

Classical Music Filter: Can anyone recommend pieces of classical piano music in a similar style to the Sonatica
by Bear McCreary from Battlestar Galactica? I have some Olivier Messiaen stuff in a similar vein but would love more in the same mellow, slightly offkilter and whistful piano style. Thanks!

Given that I have a somewhat substantial history playing the piano, how difficult would it be to take up lessons for the piano again after years out of practice AND start, for the first time, lessons on the Violin? How beneficial would such "cross training" be? How difficult would it be to find a teacher who could guide me on such a hybrid path? Other Thoughts? [more inside]

Where in Toronto can I find a good secondhand upright piano? My question would have been more complex, but I got the rest of the advice I needed from this great thread, so don't feel obligated to advise me on how to appraise one, move it, or to tune it after I get it home, etc.
