I've found my ideal music for reading and studying - Ryuichi Sakamoto's solo piano albums (BTTB and Playing the Piano). The pieces are unobtrusive and calming, and there aren't too many elements that draw my attention away from what I should be doing. Yet they're also melodic and carefully composed, not just ambient tones. Draws me into that certain headspace that is conducive to reading and focusing. Where do I find more music like it? What classical music piece is used here? I know the frenetic piece following is Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody but I'm stumped with tranquil piano part. It sounds like a Mozart Piano Sonata though I'm not sure which one.
Movie title filter. I need help remembering a title. In the movie, there's a scene where a group of people moved a grand piano over difficult terrain. Possibly a combination of forest (or jungle) and mountain. It might have been South America or Africa. There might have been missionaries, or a church, in the story, but I'm not sure. There might have been a building made of glass in the jungle, but I may be confusing that with another movie. [more inside]
I'm in the market for a keyboard that is as piano-like as possible for around $1000. Recommendations? [more inside]
What are some good starting points on the study and performance of period silent film piano accompaniment? My end goals are modest, possibly to do a small show of classic comedic shorts or a famous feature for friends. I'm interested in both generic cues and full (piano) scores, as long as they're of the period. I've only just begun the research, so any introductory tips would be appreciated. [more inside]

I've been trying Pro Keyboard mode in Rock Band 3 and I'm really enjoying it, however I have no idea whether I'm putting the right fingers on the right keys! The training modes explain it a little but there's no guidance in the actual songs. Is there an online resource or book that will teach me the basics of this?
I took lessons for like 10 years but mainly I'm still a hack piano player. Anyone know a good book or website for learning basic Jazz chord progressions and how to play and improvise? I find most piano instruction books boring and hard to follow. Just showing me the chords is easiest.

Why can't I find "32 Short Films About Glenn Gould" on DVD? I really loved that movie -- a drama/documentary about the brilliant, eccentric Canadian pianist who played the works of J.S. Bach like no one else. I haven't seen it in 10 years though, so I'm not sure how it has held up. I tried to find it recently and it doesn't seem to be available on DVD. There are some VHS tapes on eBay, but I don't want a VHS tape and don't want it bad enough to pay $100 for it (some copies were moving for over $300 on Amazon.) Does anyone know why it (presumably) hasn't been released on DVD? A poor money risk for a studio? Rights problems of some kind? Thanks.
