I'm retouching some portraits in Photoshop, and lately I've been noticing in magazines, especially fashion magazines, some images with what is apparently a filter which gives the pics a shiny, luminous, almost silver, wet, oily appearance. Does anyone know if this is a filter in Photoshop CS or a filter that can be downloaded or how to otherwise achieve this effect?

I remember seeing a really cool Photoshop project a while ago that took pictures of street scenes, removed all the text from the image, then created a second image consisting only of the removed text, with font and placement preserved. Who did it and where can I find it?

Challenge/Question for PhotoShop Gurus:
Here is a before (raw) and after (retouched) publicity photo for the film
King Arthur. Take the 1st photo, retouch it into something close to the 2nd, and tell us how you did it (or how you would do it, if you don't have time.) I'm particularly interested in the intense vibrance of the colors of her hair, skin, clothes, cape and bow.

What are some pictures/paintings of groups of people that are instantly recognizable? I'm thinking along the line's of da Vinci's "The Last Supper" and would lend itself to having photographs (probably poorly) photoshopped over the faces for a friend's going-away gift?

Graphic design and/or photoshop question. I'm designing a T-shirt, and I need to prepare/convert a photo I have of a car so that it is more T-shirt-ish. What I mean is, the photo is, well, photorealistic. Cars on shirts are usually sort of cartoony. Though I don't want to mess with the dimensions of the car and make it squished and bouncy looking. I just need the car to be less colors, or outlined, or ... something. I can't even really describe what I mean. Take a look at these images of T-shirts.

I have an interview with a recruiter next week. I will have to take either a photoshop or illustrator test. What is normally on these tests? How hard are they? What format are they normally in (e.g., multiple choice or are you given a project to complete)? What are some more obscure things I should make sure I know before I walk in there?

I can't find it anywhere and usually you can google and find something, so I'm thinking maybe there isn't one, and you just gotta click it in the paths tab. Thanks..

We're buying a new laptop for my wife tomorrow to replace her aging desktop. The only thing she'll use it for is to digitally scrapbook. The only program she'll use really is Photoshop CS2. Is it worth it to pay the extra to get a laptop with a real graphics card or will things work just as well with an motherboard solution such as the Intel 950 that uses your RAM to fuel it? Right now we're leaning towards the HP dv9207us. We'd like to know if it's overkill or with one of the 700$ specials you always see with motherboard built-in graphics work just as well? Help?
