When I open a photo in Photoshop Elements 7 the colors are washed out compared to when I open the same photo in either Irfranview or Picassa 3. Why is that?
Hi, all, I'm fairly adept at Photoshop, but have been having trouble finding what i need: Need to create an image -- symbols (which I have) that appear to have come from pages of old, soiled journal. Need to be scratchy, roughed up. Output in gray scale, 300 dpi. I'm open to tutorials, ideas, brushes, custom shapes, etc. Thanks in advance.

Is there an action / tool / simple, built-in feature in Photoshop CS4 that will auto-correct color levels based on what I choose as a neutral color (like Picnik does)? Image>Auto-Color isn't cutting it. [more inside]
There used to be a Photoshop plugin that would separate a full-color RGB/CMYK image into spot colors appropriately (or inappropriately, as the case may be) - for example, a predominantly tan and blue image of a person standing in water to just those spot colors. I think it made the images into DCS multichannel files ... anyway, is there anything like that for CS4? Or is there a relatively easy way to do it manually?

I want to get some feedback on my idea for photographing eroded gravestones before I go out and buy the materials to test it. I propose taking two camera flashes and putting green film over one and red film over the other. Then I'll mount one on the left and one on the right of the camera. I hope that this will give green shadows on one side of the carvings and red shadows on the other, and by fiddling with the resulting photo in Photoshop I'll be able to see the faded carvings better. Does this sound as though it would work? Could I get by with a single coloured flash? Is there a better way?

I have a picture I want to modify in photoshop, and I'm sure there are relevant tutorials out there on the web, but I don't know how to describe what I want to do to it. Basically, I'd like to give it the illusion of depth -- make the back wall seem further away, and give it more of a sense of perspective, so you get more of a feeling of looking into a room, and less like you're looking at a flattened image of a room. Is there a term for that? [more inside]

I am trying to create an animated button in Photoshop CS4 which includes a logo scaling down and moving a bit across the animation. I've created two frames that I'll tween between, but no matter what I do, when I scale the logo it changes in both frames. I've turned on and off the three unify buttons and the propagate frame 1 checkbox, and I've scaled using Transform and with the move tool options, every time it scales in both frames. Moving it from one position to another works just fine. Can anyone help?

Is there a legitimate way to buy discount software for a high-school student? My son, a sophomore in high school, is enjoying a class that makes heavy use of Photoshop CS4. We'd like to get him CS4 for the computer he uses at home (Vista, 4 GB memory), but it's very expensive. I know there are discounts for college students. We'd rather not use 'warez' sites. Thanks!

How can I save JPG images in Photoshop CS so that a digital camera can read them? Cheap crappy software can do this easily, but no matter what file settings I use in Photoshop, I've never been able to get any of my digital cameras to be able to read any JPG that was written by Photoshop - I have to load and re-save them with other piece of software to get them to work.
