For graphic design on a budget, can I get by with an older version of the Adobe software? What are my options? [more inside]
I need to make about 3-4 different jpeg slideshows that can be burned to a DVD. Nothing fancy, but it would be nice to add text to the images ( I have Photoshop, so that's not critical), and be able to control the speed (very critical) to maybe 30 seconds per slide/jpeg. Total images would be less than 50. Autoplay a plus. I am using Windows 7, and love simple to use free stuff, but would pay 50-100 if it is worth it. What am I looking for?
What are some websites, software or photoshop plug ins to turn a low resolution image (ie. something I grabbed from the web) into a high resolution image (ie. something that I can use to print)? Something that is good enough to make the image look good at 16 by 11 or so. [more inside]

I'm thinking of getting an Intuos 4 tablet for my photo work (Lightroom, Photoshop). Obviously, it's the bees knees for Photoshop--anyone using it with Lightroom (where I do most of my editing)? Which version to get? Thinking the medium or the slightly smaller wireless version--do they have enough real estate for effective use with a 23/24" Apple Cinema Display? Lastly, are there any rumors about an impending refresh? The wireless version was released over a year ago, and the wired versions were released almost two years ago. [more inside]

What famous photos of Obama have been the most heavily contrived or manipulated by PhotoShop? I am trying to figure out how his public visual image is manipulated by a PR team and the media. I would love to know anecdotes and specific images. For example, I heard that he was almost never shown smoking, as Americans dislike smoking today.
I am trying to get the Adobe CS3 design premium suite working on my Windows 7, 64-bit gaming computer, which meets and exceed CS3's minimum specs. The install went fine, and I know the disks are good as they worked on my old (dead) XP computer. Most of the programs (Bridge, Flash, etc.) will open a process, but not actually open anything on the screen. Photoshop will open, but all that appears is the gray background, and the menu bar. It hangs immediately. It won't even open the Photoshop "loading..." splash/credits screen. How can I get these programs running? (Yes, I tried googling it, and no, it isn't a TWAIN issue).

There used to be a Photoshop plugin that would separate a full-color RGB/CMYK image into spot colors appropriately (or inappropriately, as the case may be) - for example, a predominantly tan and blue image of a person standing in water to just those spot colors. I think it made the images into DCS multichannel files ... anyway, is there anything like that for CS4? Or is there a relatively easy way to do it manually?
