I have an Excel spreadsheet with couple hundred rows: URLs, a few fields of identifying information (outlet, etc.), for media hits on the organization I work for. I need to make this into a pretty (or at least semi-legible to the computer illiterate) document that I can give to board members, senior staff, etc.
What I would like is to use some form of scripting to automate this. Bonus points if the script can somehow open the URL and take a screenshot of the story so that I don't have to.
I have a Mac, and both the Adobe and Microsoft suites. How do I not spend tedious hours manually doing this? Especially since I have to do it each month and quarter.

My 8 year old Dell 8600c laptop while still working, no longer has a screen and so is retired to desk work only tethered to an external monitor. Now I need a laptop that I can move around again that'll play nice with Adobe CS5, run some decent games, and will cost no more than $1000.

We want to upgrade from Adobe Creative suite 1 to at least CS 3 at our office. We use mostly Illustrator and Photoshop. But the upgrade seems to be more important for Illustrator than photoshop.
-It needs to be relatively cheap to get approved so I am wondering the following:
a) Would it make sense to just upgrade illustrator or would that cause compatibility issues with the older version of photoshop?
b) We need to upgrade on 4 machines? How many upgrades would we need to buy.
c) What are the benefits of CS 4 vs CS 3?
d) Sicne CS4 is out does that mean CS 3 is cheaper?

I've got an Adobe Photoshop PSD file of my company logo. We've got a vendor making swag for us that needs the file as an Illustrator EPS file converted to outlines. Converting to EPS is fine, but I'm stumped on finding a way to get the outlines. Help, fellow nerds, Help!

Does anybody know of anyplace I can get a cheap legal copy of Adobe Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2? I would be fine purchasing a used copy if it was completely legal. I do not have the money right now to buy the software at the normal retail price but would like to learn them. Help me impersonate a graphic designer! I know it’s kind of insane, but as early as this afternoon I may receive the proverbial offer (well, assignment) that I can’t refuse, and I’m wondering if anyone might be able to offer some fake-it-till-you-make-it tips for this sort of project (a short catalogue for a half-dozen or so boutique products). See, the thing is, I'm not a designer, although I have some experience with Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop. I’m most interested in a list of ten or fifteen things that you talented designer folks do over and over again that seem impressive to the uninitiated, but that are simpler than they appear to we of the untrained eyes. Books are also fine, but due to the potential immediacy of this, the shorter the tutorial, the better.
