Help a Photoshop novice with auto color correction!

Is there an action / tool / simple, built-in feature in Photoshop CS4 that will auto-correct color levels based on what I choose as a neutral color (like Picnik does)? Image>Auto-Color isn't cutting it. [more inside]

Writing Photoshop Actions That Request User Input

I'm creating a series of Photoshop Actions to automate processing images for my blogs. Most of it is resizing images and the like, which is easily done in an action. As part of this, I'd like to open a dialog to ask for a filename, then to save the processed image to a specific directory with that filename. Can that be done in an action, or do I need to write a script to do it? [more inside]
