What's a good
used Nikon DSLR for a beginner? Any models out there that also do video? Looking to spend $300-$400 on the camera body, another $200-$300 on a lens and I have no idea at which of the zillion models to focus my eBay searches on.

My wife has an iPhone 3G that we'd been syncing with an old eeepc. The eeepc bit the dust, so the iPhone has the only copy of lots of photos. How do we sync the photos (not from the camera roll; the ones from the photo library) to a different computer? (Windows, please)

iPhone App: I want to upload EVERY photo I take, to Flickr, immediately after being taken. This means that I want the app to upload in the background, REGARDLESS of what I'm doing. I may hit the home button and go on to another app, or I may just throw the phone in my pocket. I want the new spiffy multitasking to work as promised and upload my photos. I want to use this as my main camera app. I use a 3GS, so multitasking does work fine.

Are efforts afoot to improve the quality of photos displayed on computer monitors? What, for example, would it take to produce a photo display on a screen that would be essentially indistinguishable from a darkroom print of the same size?
Do we need screens with many more, smaller, pixels? Do we need better software? Both?

I have been the sole writer/editor for a small, free, newspaper for a couple of years. I have kept all original .doc files and published and unpublished photos. What I am looking for is software that will organize both pictures and text. It is easy to find organizing software for images, but not for photos and text. Does software like this even exist? Any help is appreciated.

I'm taking my Canon G11 on a sailing vacation in the Greek islands. I expect lots of blue sky, brilliant sun, and light reflecting off the water. I've never used any kind of filter before, but should I consider it this time? If so, what do I need to know to make a filter work with my camera? Is a circular polarizer the best way to go or are there other filters to consider?

I've been tasked at school to photograph a negative emotion. I had a plan in place which broke to bits when I forgot my camera at school over the weekend. I need to shoot something tomorrow, but I'm having trouble being more creative than some crude and banal ideas for photographs of fear. I can't find inspiration online - all I come up with is crappy stock photography. Can you please point out for me good online and free resources on scene staging in films, resources on photographing emotions or good examples of emotional photos?

Looking for a video of a technology demo, which uses high-def photos to add details to video by intelligently overlaying the photo on the video and deforming the photos as the video moves. I vaguely recall it as being TED-talk-like, with shots of a (young, possibly Asian?) guy at a podium and shots of the video in action. My google-fu is failing me.

My university (that I just graduated from) wants to purchase something like 20 of my photos to use for a new brochure they're making and also for the website. I have a good relationship with them and don't want to be a jerk overcharging them, and while I've sold photos to publications before at a fairly standard price of $150 for a limited use quater-page print, I think doing that for 20 photos might be much, especially since a lot of these are just photos I took during school and I haven't gone through the usual process of getting model releases for any of my fellow students. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has sold photos in "bulk" like this before and what might be a good price to charge.

I have a large amount of family letters, photos, and documents dating from the late 1800s to the 2000s, with most ranging from the 1930s to the 1960s. Some are in fair condition, and I'd like preserve them for future generations. Most are in English, but there's a smattering of Hebrew and French, neither of which I can read. My questions inside.
