My place of employment (an agro-tourism destination) has procured someone to play Santa this weekend for photos with kids (by donation), and we are having trouble figuring out the best way to deal with the paperwork and administration of that, without it turning into a huge nightmare. [more inside]
I’m in my very early twenties. I made some horrific decisions in my late teens to send guys naked photos of myself. Yes, completely naked. Yes, including my face. While none of them have leaked as far as I know, I’ve been extremely anxious about the possibility that they one day will. I pray everyday for it not to happen. I was young, stupid, insecure. I’m going into a field where, if I’m successful, I’ll be in the public eye, where I’ll be well-known to some degree. I worry that one day these photos will either be used as blackmail or be leaked…or that it’ll ruin a blossoming career. I worry that the bad decisions I made to hurt myself will haunt me. What can I do to alleviate this risk, and if it does indeed happen, how can I deal with it in the best way to save my career, relationships, soul? [more inside]
So I'm one of Everpix's many very disappointed soon-to-be-ex-users, and I really, really liked their Flashback emails showing me photos from Today In History. Is there any way to easily automate something like that just coming from my local Aperture library?
Any photo frames out there easily allow adding of photos via an iPad? [more inside]

Help! I need to know what high society Cairo looks like in the 1920s - the sophisticated, opulent, and fashionable - people and settings. More parties and interiors than architecture. It's really important that the references be of Egyptian people, not travelers visiting from abroad bringing their own style with them. But, if it was fashionable for the well-heeled to import furniture and clothing styles from Europe, that's important too. What does a party look like, and how would it differ from a party set in Paris or London? The things that are different are the things that are important. My best resource so far is the Egyptian Royalty pool on Flickr. That and Indiana Jones is all I've got. It's for a painting. Thanks!
My FACEBOOK page has a section called "Photos", and subsections called "Photos of Me", "Your Photos", "Albums", and "Not Tagged". [more inside]
Need a photographer for my upcoming wedding, and every photographer's photos look nice, but photoshop and filters can mask lesser skill I know. Can anyone with actual photo expertise tell me if these two (APJ and TB) are "on the level" or if one is significantly better? [more inside]
I have a lot of duplicate music and photos on my hard drive - and this is making sorting them out difficult. Is there a good programme out there that will help me out with this? [more inside]
I need to copy a bunch of photo prints (estimated at 80) to have made into duplicate prints for multiple people. (Reason: I found my birth family, and they all want photos of me from throughout my life.) The photos are many different sizes and ratios, like 3x5, 4x6, square, 5x7, etc, and some have been cut with scissors into odd sizes/aspect ratios. [more inside]
I've attached my cheap Verizon smart phone to my Toshiba computer, but the photos show up as icons (a little cartoon with a mountain) instead of actual photographs. It would be nice to see what was there without opening up each file individually. I'm OK if you talk to me as if I was six. This is a newish computer running 8. I am unsure where the specs reside.
Now that Smugmug has pretty much broken their site with the redesign, where should I host my baby pictures? [more inside]
I just got an older enlarger and want to get back into developing photos. I haven't done this since high school. Please recommend A. Beginners resources for blackroom devloping and B. Internet sites to buy cheap chemicals and paper. Thanks MeFies!
I need either an extremely specific browser add on or a computer script that does a strange and complicated (??) thing. I'd rather download a solution, but if someone can point me to a scripting language that will eventually do what I need it to I am willing to learn. [more inside]
My child is 7 and when he was younger, had no trouble smiling (or looking serious) for pictures. But now he gives a horrible grimace...thing. He's been at camp all summer and they take pictures of the kids and post them on Flickr. Paging through it is painful. Cute kid, cute kid...oh hey, my kid with a frightening stretched-face chimp-grimace and slitted eyes. Every fucking picture. It looks like a sneer. [more inside]
Our new fridge is not magnetic and our new apartment is very plain and white. I am not very crafty or DIY oriented, but it would be nice to find somewhere/some way to display all our photos and pictures, and personalise the place a little in the process. I don't mind expending some money on this. [more inside]

I've sent off my family's entire photo collection for scanning and now have 13,000 photos that I would like to tag with names, themes (sports, birthdays, travel), and maybe locations. What is best practice in photo tagging these days? What software (mac) should I use? What's the best way to tag photos in bulk so that I save time? [more inside]

I'm trying to get an idea of WHICH areas of Creative Commons I can draw from on Flickr. I work for a state doing something that, while noncommercial, does support business in a way. I want to use creative commons pix for a website we're putting up. So attribution, I get. That's easy. The others I'm not sure about - as a government office are we, by dint of our setup, considered non-commercial? And the non-deriviative works...does that mean we can't even crop it? And I completely don't understand "share alike" at all. Does that mean if we use THOSE photos we have to let anyone have our website template and content (which would be our only original work) for free with complete unrestricted use?
What is the protocol for 'reblogging' photos you find at various places on the internet? [more inside]
I work for an organization that has lots of photos and videos but no system to manage that. I have introduced the idea of using a system like Resourcespace to achieve this goal. What areas could I study to implement this most effectively? Any books, journals, associations or anything that covers effective metadata and content management? [more inside]

Years ago I was reading a book (an art book I think but it's possible that someone like Tom Stoppard might be messing with my memories) and it said that Tristan Tzara had decorated his children's bedroom and playroom with the most beautiful wacky paintings and props a dada artist could conceive. So basically I need to swap out all the art on several websites with photos of California that we have the rights to use in perpetuity (as well as for print). I realize there's the "buy one at a time from Getty" avenue but I have neither the time or resources for that. What I need is a boatload of pics that I can use for commercial use that are all OF California (as well as some general use pics, graphics and art). A very big collection that I can hand to an intern so they can get swapping. I think in the old days you used to just be able to buy a CD-rom of images. Can you still do that? Are there full collections with hundreds of pics? Or are there any free collections that anyone knows about that are just public use for this purpose? My budget for this is not high (no more than a couple hundred bucks) so I'm open to any options possible.
I am adding an SSD as a boot drive in my Mac Pro. I am comfortable installing it, and intend to clone the existing boot drive onto it with SuperDuper! However, I'm confused about how and WHEN to move my documents, iTunes library, etc. in the process. Can you help? [more inside]

For a research project, we’re asking ~24 high school and college students to log their experiences with homework by sending us text messages and photos over the course of about two weeks. As an aspiring artist, I've recently acquired a habit of saving to Dropbox every image I find particularly inspiring or useful as an artistic reference. This is fun and motivating, except I'm realizing that my Finder-based 'folder > subfolder' organizational structure is doing a poor job of keeping up with my needs. I'm looking for software recommendations (Mac OS X) or general tips re: sorting a frequently-accessed image collection that will eventually number into the thousands. The catch: the system needs to sync with an iPhone/iPad. [more inside]
