I just bought a digital camera at a second hand store and found about 20 of what look like prom pictures. Is there a lost and found photo site where I can post them since I have no way of knowing who these people are or how to find them, but don't want to delete their pics?
Our wedding photographer sent us our original full resolution pictures through Dropbox. I want to put together an online album to share with guests. I usually post pictures via Picassa; is there another platform that would be better? Also, I would prefer to keep the album password protected. Relatedly, I want to print thank-you cards and a wedding album. I have looked into Artifact Uprising and MPix but would love recommendations on print services too. Thanks!
What next for Picasa? We've been using Google's free image manager since its inception and have accumulated nearly 130,000 pictures (330GB), along with associated favourites, edits, crops, etc. But Picasa isn't supported on Windows 8.1, let alone Windows 10, so what's next? [more inside]
I want to go beyond just printing photo stock on my inkjet printer. What are your ideas or experiences for taking a picture off your phone or point-and-shoot and making a really nice art piece for your home? [more inside]
In preparation for my wedding, we've been going through some family photos. We've been able to scan some of them, but others are too large or awkward to fit onto our scanner. Can you recommend a service that will scan and digitize these albums for us, while keeping them intact? More inside. [more inside]
What is the best to take a photo of a Mac screen for a printed mailshot? I need to take a photo of a Mac screen to be used in a photo for a printed mailshot. [more inside]
Looking for showcases of great photography on the web! Specifics inside. [more inside]
Now that Google Photos has premiered, it appears that they've gutted the browser based photo editing features from Google+ Photos. I miss being able to quickly upload an image from my computer and tweak a bunch of Instagramish filter settings to get that lo-fi look that all the kids love nowadays. Are there any good equivalents out there, or is there a way to get the old photo editing capability back? [more inside]
I've taken couple of panorama photos that I'd like to turn into photo prints... [more inside]
I'd like to find and copy all image files on my MacBook Air and an external hard drive that copy them all to a new folder on the external hard drive. [more inside]
I recently had a few hundred family photos scanned and I'd like to put them up somewhere everyone who's interested can see them. This includes people across several different families and with vastly different technology access/knowledge (though everyone can browse the Internet). I'd strongly prefer not to use Facebook. What's the best solution? [more inside]
Is there an Android app or web app that will show the latest image from a Flickr album or Dropbox folder? [more inside]
I'd like to create a single PDF document made up of 50 photos. Is there free or cheap way to do this without sacrificing quality? Thank you!
There must be an easy way to send photos from a cell phone to a computer... (as brief as possible explanation inside). [more inside]
I'm working on a project, and for inspiration I want to see photos of real apartments/homes. Google tends to spit back a lot of stock photos, real estate photos, or interior design photos - those are all too tidy. Basically what I want is The Selby but for less fancy folks. Any ideas on how to find what I'm looking for?
I have an increasingly huge collection of digital family photos that I need to make hard copy backups of, and I'm looking for recommendations for a service to use. [more inside]
Flickr used to be my go-to site for getting free images to use in classroom powerpoints. Even with a lot of spam, you could search and find nice images, especially diagrams and non-photo visuals, quite effectively. Now it has even MORE spammy photos and the search function feels more inadequate and the site seems a whole lot *slower*. Are there good alternative archive sites I could turn to instead? (I've already tried Google and Bing Image search - they're OK, but a bit too noisy as well) Thanks for any tips!
I don't think there's any way to uninstall the Google Photo bloatware on my unrooted Android phone, which is super-annoying. I've turned off "upload to Google+" but am angsty that one day, after an update or whatever, it might re-default to upload. I don't want Google saving copies of my stuff, and I am not reassured by their help materials, which talk about me "not seeing" the images anymore if I delete them. That's not the same as Google not having them, which is what I'm trying to avoid. Without rooting my phone, is there a way I can delete the app, or stop it from storing my stuff? [more inside]
I've had a Facebook account for years and never used it. Now I'm getting messages via email that so-and-so has tagged me in a photo. So, uhm, what am I supposed to do? [more inside]

I'm a food blogger and my photo editing process takes way too much time to justify at this moment in my life (normally I spend a long time on Photoshop saving everything for the web and resizing to a 605 width so it fits my blog). Is there a way I can do that straight from my phone and publish on to Flickr directly? That would be a huge help!
I'm looking for a cool historic photo for a specific spot in my house. What are your favorite sources for that kind of thing? [more inside]
I'm trying to help my parents transfer their photos from their iPhones & iPads to their PC, which runs Windows 8. I want the photos to be transferred and then deleted from their devices (each device has a few thousand photos, so manual deletion is not a realistic option). If this is your setup, what's the best solution you have found? [more inside]
What's the most cost-effective way to print about 10000 [unique] photos? I'm enjoying going through my grandparent's photo albums, and while I'm not concerned about backups (I am extremely good about backups), I am very concerned about discoverability; I think my grandchildren someday are much more likely to find and go through a stack of physical photo albums than they are a CD in a drawer. Several (five? more?) years ago, I used to read this guy's daily lunch blog. I just had the urge to look it up again, but I have no idea where to begin finding it! Googling it isn't helping me because there are bazillions of food blogs! Typing "Canadian man food blog ponytail" into the search engine is getting me nowhere fast. [more inside]
I need a photo management system that allows me to tag and search photos, but I'd rather it NOT be web-based. I don't really know what to look for. [more inside]
I would like to post photos for parents from our kindergarten class. I'm thinking of doing it on a password-protected Tumblr site. From what little I can find, it sounds do-able, but...? [more inside]

What is the correct way to make sure all of my photos are saved to my computer when I sync my iphone? I am on a PC, and I don't have iphoto. Are they being saved when I sync? Not sure about this. There is not nearly enough space in my icloud account for them all, so I have that turned off for photos for now. When I go to the photos tab in itunes, it allows me to sync additional photo folders on my computer but it says nothing about my iphone photos being saved to the computer with each sync. I haven't yet pulled the trigger on iOS 8, but I'm trying to understand the changes to Camera Roll and Photos app before I upgrade. I have read the Ars Technica review among others and still am not clear on the changes to Photos. [more inside]

And I don't think I'm going to be the target of hackers anytime soon. But I am in a long distance not-really-kind-of-maybe-relationship with someone where we would like some kind of means of sharing photos and videos of a personal and sometimes-but-not-always sexy nature with one another without running into email attachment limits, needing to jump through a lot of hoops, accidentally sharing anything with the wrong people on social media, etc. What's our best bet? [more inside]
I'm having problems with taking photos indoors when there's a lot of movement. Prime example: weddings. Most of the shots turn out blurry. I have a basic digital camera with a setting for low light but it's at a low resolution and too grainy to print. Without using a tripod or flash what's the best way to adjust the manual settings to compensate?
I have 1000s of photos from the past 12 months. I'd like to make a movie out of these with each photo being displayed for 0.1 seconds (or something ridiculously short). How do I do this? iMovie has a min of 1 second and that's too long. Some Mac specific tool that doesn't cost too much (say under $30) would be helpful
I just inherited literally a large garbage bag of wartime government documents, newspaper cutouts, photos and other memorabilia from Russia and Ukraine ca. 1910-1970. What do I do with the stuff I don't want, and also how do I fumigate it? [more inside]
I used to use and love an iOS app called GroupShot that helped you magically combine the good parts of multiple photos into one to help fix issues like when people don't smile or accidentally blink or when they aren't all looking at the camera at the same time. The app no longer works right and I can't find any others like it! Anyone know of any other apps out there that do that? [more inside]

I have and use Turbo Scan on my iPhone. It does what it does beautifully--snaps a picture of a page, straightens it, compensates for perspective, and best (for me), takes the yellow age coloring away, leaving me with a pure black and white image. (I'm mostly scanning old sheet music). Are there any Macintosh apps that would do the same corrections from a digital snapshot? Reason: I have a lot of pre-existing images--high res, but they look like photographs of a page, not that easy-reading, clean black and white. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I'm getting frequent alerts on my iPhone that my free 5gb of iCloud storage is full. Most of this is from years of photos on my phone--in fact, that's pretty much the only thing on my phone I would care about having backed up. I also think most/all of the images on my phone are already backed up to my computer in Lightroom. Is there a convenient/automatic way to handle what photos stay on my phone and what photos are backed up to iCloud? [more inside]
I saw a pinterest item recently: the person took a large US map and cut photos from each state into the shape of the state, then overlayed the photo on the map of the state. The result was a US map with a photo standing in for each state. This was done by cutting photos by hand. Is there an easy way of doing it on the computer?
Hey, I'm traveling and I want to start a blog to catalogue my adventures. Just something for friends and family that's a bit nicer and a little more personal than Facebook. Must be free, fairly traditional blog format (not Tumblr), emphasis on photography with captions. [more inside]
I want to put up a wordpress site for a virtual gallery of some of my photos. I'd really like to have something that looks clean & elegant enough to send out to potential clients/magazines. ie. Not so much something that signals, "family summer trip... woohoo" but really something that signals "artist-doing-arty-things." (What I am putting on this wordpress site will be a specific photo story though, and not all of my work-- ie. this site will have a really narrow focus). I've looked at woothemes, and really didn't see anything that had the look I am striving for. (It's that classic problem: I don't know what I want, but I'll know it when I see it.") Can the hive mind point me to other places (like WooThemes) where I can find and buy beautiful wordpress themes (tight budget alert!) and/or specific themes-for-sale that would be great for an aspiring photographer with a story to tell. Thanks!
I have a Galaxy S4 and I generally transfer pics from it to a Windows 8.1 PC via USB, connecting up the Samsung as an external hard drive, navigating down to the DCIM folder on the camera's external SD card, then dragging & dropping. Recently, all my photos more recent than Feb 2014 are not visible via Windows Explorer even though the camera itself shows that those photos are indeed stored in the same folder on the external SD card that has all the pre-Feb photos. What gives? Are they hidden form view somehow?
I unpacked a bunch of boxes, took photos of what was inside, and then packed them back up. I would like to create a simple inventory of the boxes with columns for box #, a photo of the contents, and a description of the contents. Here is sort of an idea of what I am trying to accomplish. I'm thinking about upgrading my camera from a 10-year-old point-and-shoot to take photos of an imminent new baby (and eventual child-on-the-go), but the options are crazy-making. Camcorder, point-and-shoot, or interchangeable lenses? Video, pocketability, or picture quality? What did you find was the best option? I already have an iPhone 5s that I will use for quick snaps.
