As an aspiring artist, I've recently acquired a habit of saving to Dropbox every image I find particularly inspiring or useful as an artistic reference. This is fun and motivating, except I'm realizing that my Finder-based 'folder > subfolder' organizational structure is doing a poor job of keeping up with my needs. I'm looking for software recommendations (Mac OS X) or general tips re: sorting a frequently-accessed image collection that will eventually number into the thousands. The catch: the system needs to sync with an iPhone/iPad.

A friend asked me (because I have been to France a couple times) if I knew the locations in a couple of snapshots taken by his father many years ago (I presume after WWII) while in France serving in the armed forces. I have no idea, having only been to Paris and environs, and thought there was a chance that a French, or French-traveling, MeFites would know. Thanks in advance to anyone who has an idea.

I'd like photos that I take on my iPhone to automatically turn up on my mom's iPhone. I'd prefer to do this without setting up my iCloud account on her phone, since we don't need to share contacts, calendars, etc. Ideally the solution would be completely transparent for her, and require little or no ongoing effort from me once it's set up. Any tips on the best way to do this?

A friend of mine is moving to an all-iOS home infrastructure:
- iPhones
- iPad
- airprint printer
- Apple TV
No computer. Their died and they're not buying a new one.
They don't have much or any local music or video content, but do have a ton of photos (like over 16GB by some large amount).
What's the best way that you can think of, without them having to buy a computer, of storing photos and sharing them amongst all of their devices and with other people. Interested in hearing about both free and paid services. Also interested in camera app recommendations, other app recommendations, and service recommendations.
This question gives some interesting camera app recommendations and I'll send that to him as well.
Thank you.

I just created a fan page for my photography. Naturally I'd like to add some photos but I can't seem to figure out how. If I click on photos, there's an album for the profile picture, but I can only change that photo; not add to it. There's no option to create a new album. Am I missing something?

So I love this image, and want to use it for an art project. It's old, so I'm pretty sure it's public domain. I'll find out.
But meanwhile, does anyone know where I can find a hi-res image file of
this photo?
I tried emailing that website, but no dice.

I have an older Canon inkjet printer (ip8500) that has been very reliable. However, it really gripes my tush every time I have to pay a fortune for replacement cartridges that don’t seem to last much past the time they come out of their wrapper.

I'm trying to figure out what services are good for scanning a large number of family photos.
We have about 60 photo albums, some with photos marked on the back with descriptions, and we want to scan them and keep them somewhat organized so we can view and print them.
So I think we have somewhere 3000 photos and I want to know if these online places do what they say on the tin, if some are better than others, etc. We are in the US, California.
What services do this, and how do I make sure I get the originals back, and the photos get metadata added to them if it's there?

I'm taking my Canon G11 on a sailing vacation in the Greek islands. I expect lots of blue sky, brilliant sun, and light reflecting off the water. I've never used any kind of filter before, but should I consider it this time? If so, what do I need to know to make a filter work with my camera? Is a circular polarizer the best way to go or are there other filters to consider?

I've been tasked at school to photograph a negative emotion. I had a plan in place which broke to bits when I forgot my camera at school over the weekend. I need to shoot something tomorrow, but I'm having trouble being more creative than some crude and banal ideas for photographs of fear. I can't find inspiration online - all I come up with is crappy stock photography. Can you please point out for me good online and free resources on scene staging in films, resources on photographing emotions or good examples of emotional photos?

Looking for a video of a technology demo, which uses high-def photos to add details to video by intelligently overlaying the photo on the video and deforming the photos as the video moves. I vaguely recall it as being TED-talk-like, with shots of a (young, possibly Asian?) guy at a podium and shots of the video in action. My google-fu is failing me.

A few days ago, I unknowingly spilled water on a pile of old photo prints that I am planning on scanning. They dried, and now, as a result, the bottom twenty are stuck together. How can I separate the prints without tearing or otherwise ruining them? If that is impossible, I still have the negatives somewhere; how can I best scan negatives into a regular flatbed scanner?

My dad has many boxes of the photographs he took during college 30 years ago. After completing my freshman year, I have equally as many digital pictures saved on my computer. While I would love to make 1500 prints, that isn't very plausible. What's the best way to preserve these pictures and make them easily accessible and viewable in the future? (I might be able to choose 200 or so to make the most accessible and viewable.)

Legal boffins! I paid a photographer a few hundred pounds to shoot some of my sculptures. No contracts were exchanged, and no agreements were made about where the photos would be used. Now a magzine would like to use these photos in a forthcoming issue! Awesome. But the photographer says I don't have a license to allow a third-party to publish these. Is he right? Do I own the photos or does he? I don't have the pieces any more so can't get another set of photos made...
Am I screwed? Thanks guys :)
PS: I'm in the UK if that makes a difference...
