Half the apps on my iMac that sync with iCloud have corrupt or missing .plist files that prevent them from launching. Signing out of iCloud, restarting, and logging back in to reset synced data did not resolve problems. Running First Aid on drive returns no errors. What next? [more inside]

So I've got a macbook air. There is NOT a ton of room left on it. But somehow a bunch (like 25-30) photos I took were deleted. I'm still not sure how. And I want to restore JUST those photos. But as I understand it, I need to restore the entire library. And I don't have enough room for TWO libraries on this computer. So is it possible to just go back, look for the photos I want, and restore JUST those? If so...how? Latest mac OSX.
I am mostly a Windows guy, but I have a MacBook at home that's ended up getting more use than expected. We started using GarageBand and have a ton of photos and some videos as well. Now the smallish SSD is full. I plan to buy an external HD and move some stuff but am not that familiar with Mac file structures, so I don't know what's safe to move. [more inside]

I have 1000s of photos from the past 12 months. I'd like to make a movie out of these with each photo being displayed for 0.1 seconds (or something ridiculously short). How do I do this? iMovie has a min of 1 second and that's too long. Some Mac specific tool that doesn't cost too much (say under $30) would be helpful
I'm getting frequent alerts on my iPhone that my free 5gb of iCloud storage is full. Most of this is from years of photos on my phone--in fact, that's pretty much the only thing on my phone I would care about having backed up. I also think most/all of the images on my phone are already backed up to my computer in Lightroom. Is there a convenient/automatic way to handle what photos stay on my phone and what photos are backed up to iCloud? [more inside]
I unpacked a bunch of boxes, took photos of what was inside, and then packed them back up. I would like to create a simple inventory of the boxes with columns for box #, a photo of the contents, and a description of the contents. Here is sort of an idea of what I am trying to accomplish. I'm looking for a program (OS X, must be 10.5.8-compatible with my oldtimey work computer) that will generate contact sheets of photos and it must print the file name under each photo and allow for a title to be entered on top (ex. Marcy Building Site Visit 1/13/2010). Right now, my work computer has iPhoto 5 and Photoshop Elements 3 on it. PE can do everything except auto-add a title. Is there anything that can do all of this AND run on this crotchety eMac?

I'm helping my mother buy a digital camera for her extended trip to Thailand and have exhausted dpreview.com and the various other review sites. I need real-people recommendations: she wants something with decent resolution (at least 3 mp; I hope for 4 or better); under $300 hopefully; decent battery life (we tried a Nikon Coolpix but the batteries didn't last long enough - the Canon Powershot s50 batteries lasted for 200 shots and lots of flash, but the camera is just out of her price range); compact flash, since I have a number of cards for her, and ease of use. And it has to work with an older iMac with os9. Any ideas?
