Pretty much all of my photos exist on my laptop, a networked hard drive and Flickr. I am looking for a good way to keep the three locations synced with each other.

Flickr is perfectly fine, but I hate that it switches up photo URLs/servers, so photos I post on my blog turn into 'photo not available.' Since that's what I mainly use it for, it's getting to be a pain. What do I switch to?

Are there better alternatives to flickr for sharing photos with a large group of international people? I'm trying to come up with an easy way to have access from the US to people's photos from abroad -- particularly the Mid East, Philippines, South Africa, and Argentina -- without having to e-mail multiple attachments or send photo CDs through the mail.

I really love the
Flickr "ID Please" group, which I originally found
here.
Are there other services/communities online that allow you to submit a photo (or other media item) for discussion/identification by experts? This particular group tends to focus on identifying types of flora/fauna.

What's going on with Flickr? Myself, my wife, and people we know, are getting dozens of our photos favourited...by people with no photos of their own, no profile, and no contacts. And they never leave any comments. What's this all about? Some kind of scam? Spam? Or completely innocent?

Best way to share a photoalbum? I have an old U.S. army booklet (62 doublespread pages) called "The Punch Below The Belt" from 1944, and I was interested in putting it online for others to see. It's a fascinating, virulently racist propaganda piece about the tactics the Japanese soldiers used in the Pacific theater of operations.

How useful / rewarding are you finding Flickr? Is it worth it for me to spend time uploading and tagging photos, and to bug my friends to join? It looks very cool and like a social network that's actually good for something: it also looks like kind of a lot of work, especially since I can't keep all my photos there or print pictures from Flickr.
My love of cool web apps says "yea," while my schedule says "nay." What say ye?
