I'm looking for photographers who explore the contemporary American urban and suburban environment, and see poetry in highways, strip malls, gas stations, motels, SUVs, financial districts that are dead on the weekend, etc. Thanks!

I have several thousand images from almost 30 years of photography and filmmaking scattered throughout one of four hard drives on my Mac. I want to move all my images to their own drive, build a searchable photo library, and I need a way to organize, tag, search, and easily find images.

Camera Noob Filter - I like taking pictures and I find that I like taking them a lot lately. My boyfriend is in a band and I love taking pictures of their shows but I can't get great shots in low - light with my Sony point and shoot.
Any suggestions on a camera that isn't the full-blown DSLR but not point and shoot that will give me great low light shots as well daylight shots?

I am looking for particularly photogenic Brooklyn backdrops for our engagement shoot this weekend. DUMBO and Coney Island are not options. The more specific places, the better! General engagement shoot advice is welcome as well, because I don't really understand the concept.

Ok this is may sound like a weird one...
Basically I'm building an outdoor enclosure for a panning/tilting webcam that has IR lighting built into it. It was going to be all sides Lexan, to keep things simply and neat looking.
I learned, midstream of course, that the Lexan/Plexiglass/glass all reflect IR light like crazy so you just see a beautiful ring of IR lights and not what's outside the box when viewing the stream.
I'm told a UV filter might work, embedded in the front of the enclosure. The challenges are:

Help me identify mystery photographer!
This image (a little NSFW) came up today on
How To Be A Retronaut. I plugged it into TinEye and it found more examples but none of them have details about the photographer. I found
this other image (a bit more NSFW) which may be by the same photographer and has a more complete 'signature' in the lower right. The signature looks like it might be a French name. Any clues?

I'm working on a news story for the local alt-weekly that involves a childcare center, and may be taking photos in the center. I've done child photography before, but it wasn't 'news' and we did model releases. I'm a bit nervous about parental concerns about privacy, and since I'm freelance I don't have a capital-N-news-organization to back me up, so I'm looking for advice. What's Standard Operating Practice for news photography of kids?

Please help me find the perfect camera bag for my Nikon D40. The ideal solution would be something with enough room for both photo and personal stuff, so I don't have to carry my purse. Or, are "camera bags" a dumb idea if I already have a somewhat-padded messenger bag?

I need to take better pictures in my home machine shop. I have a decent camera (Nikon L100) but my workshop lighting is poor (mostly florescent lights) and my camera's flash is too directional and too harsh. I think I need to invest in a small umbrella light but I'm not sure and I could use some advice, including what to buy.
I take a lot of close-ups,
I don't have a lot of room to work in and I'd like to work with a continuous light rather than flash. The photos are for my blog.
