There is a photo I took, which a firm wants to use on the cover of a Holiday card. Quantity would be around 30.000. One time use. They will credit me on the back. I have no idea how much can or should I charge for it. What do you think? Thanks.

I recently purchased a Nikon D5000 DSLR, and while I'd like to think that I have a bit of a photographer's eye, I really haven't used anything beyond a point-and-shoot for the last few years. Any advice or resources that people have (beyond reading the manual) to improve my skills would be awesome. [more inside]

I've been taking photographs for a few years with the aim of becoming a professional, and I think I've got enough experience and material to start billing myself as one (published work, fancy website, etc). I'm working towards photojournalism, but in the meantime I'd like to do some travel or commercial-type photography for the extra cash. I'm not really sure how to kick that off, though. I'm living in a huge tourist city in Asia and I suspect fancy hotels are a good place to start, but where else should I be putting out my feelers? [more inside]

Went to a family run estate sale. The deceased was a student of some very famous Chicago photographers. The work was never really shown on a large scale. Some amazing stuff. I bought all of his negatives and prints. Thousands of images. They were sold by the direct relatives of the photographer to me. The big question, who owns the rights to the images?

About 12 months ago I saw what looked like a long-exposure shot of a shuttle launch, at night, from a high vantage point (possibly a helecopter). My efforts to find it since have not since located this stunning shot, despite searches of the usual, common-sense general and subject specific sites.
Would the hive mind be able to help with this?

What's a good place in or near the greater Seattle area, to park and photograph a car?
I'm looking for somewhere which is a nice area or has a nice backdrop, has space to stop a car, and which is generally fairly deserted (so that camera etc. can be set up without constantly being the path of people/cars, and pictures can be taken without having to wait for people to leave the frame, etc). To make things harder, this would most convenient during the day on a weekend, but if a good place is most empty during office hours (or whatever), it might be worth the inconvenience.
