My wife and I are in the midst of a back-and-forth with our wedding photographer because we're not happy with the image deliverables we were given. While the subjects/scenes in the photos are great, the quality is way below what we were expecting. We wanted advice on how to reason with our photographer because we believe we have legitimate concerns that aren't being handled correctly. [more inside]
We do not want a "wedding photographer." The setting is photogenic and we don't expect perfection. How can we go about finding a photographer to capture our event without the demands usually placed on wedding photographers? [more inside]
I really like the "Luciana Flower Comb" and "Augustina Flower Vine" photos on this site. They're a bit "Laura Nyro in New York in the late sixties." The lighting contrast and the dark background and the small hit of color from the lipstick are very appealing to me. I'm getting married and would like to hire a photographer who can produce shots like this in his/her sleep, but I don't know what to search for -- what terminology, etc. "Goth" is not what I want, and "vintage" is too broad. Would "chiaroscuro" get me anywhere? [more inside]
My fiance and I are getting married in Center City Philadelphia in March. We'll be staying at the Sheraton Downtown, about a mile from our venue (The College of Physicians) and are interested in picking a few quintessential, fun, beautiful Philadelphia spots for our first look and other pictures, assuming the weather cooperates. We've thought about Love Park, City Hall, Logan Circle, the Franklin Institute and the Art Museum, but are looking for more suggestions and information about policies and permitting. Also personal experience would be great! [more inside]

We want to print our wedding photos in a book for family. What website has cheap (and very good) wedding books? Any recommendations are appreciated.
I'm shooting a friend's wedding this weekend and I'm looking for inspiration and ideas for non-standard wedding photography. NOT 'the happy couple's beautiful day' but something different. I'm not the primary shooter so I was thinking of doing something more 'fine arts', perhaps even dark... but I'm not yet sure where to take it. [more inside]
I'm looking for recommendations for Toronto wedding photographers and rehearsal dinner venues that are fun, inviting, professional, but not overly expensive, and which might still be available for this September. [more inside]
I am thinking of buying a nice framed photo that is recognizably DC (landmarks, cherry blossoms, etc., or something more creative) as a wedding gift. I looked at Art.com and everything was pretty generic, 'obvious' and postcard-looking. I'd love to find a photo that is a bit more unique, or even perhaps a cool framed graphic print. My budget is not awesome: I am looking to spend under $300. Any recommendations of websites/photographers/artists I should check out?
A month ago, we got back our wedding photographs - the photographer gave us an online gallery with all the pictures (some I like, so I don't) and a drive with all the pictures on them. Our photographer has asked us to only share the photos with others via the online gallery (though this is not in our contract). Do I have to do this? Meaning, is this the ethical thing to do? My fiance and I are getting married this October. We have a church and reception site, but are looking for recommendations on catering and photography for a small wedding (150 people) in Wauwatosa (near Milwaukee) WI. If you have had a negative experience, I would appreciate hearing about that as well. Thank you!!

Please give me YOUR TIPS for wedding photography. I have tirelessly searched google, read excerpts from books etc. I don't need links. I need YOUR REAL LIFE TIPS on wedding photography. NYC Wedding Filter: The future Ms. Smatatoes thinks numbered tables for our wedding would be too boring, but the current Mr. Smatatoes doesn't want cutesy names (ie, "Tribeca", "Red Hook"), either. So our compromise is getting nice photographs of numbers from around the city- ie, a shot of the front of a 1 train for table #1, and so on. Here's the question: what are some good, creative places to get a cool shot of the numbers 1-20 around NYC?

As part of some wedding planning, we're trying to find a way to allow our photo-taking guests to share their photos with everyone else. The idea being a big collection of photos from various people during the evening. Bonus points if those viewing can order prints through the website. Any web-sites out there to facilitate this sort of thing? [more inside]

Bad Weather Photography-Filter: I'm photographing a wedding this Saturday at a beautiful estate in the country, the main venue being an ancient Tythe Barn. Lovely, but for one problem - according to the long-range forecast, we might be expecting torrential rain during the day so all the formals may need to be relocated inside a very dark building. Please, hive-mind, help a natural light photographer with some tips on shooting groups in a semi-studio set-up? [more inside]

I know someone who wants to become an independent professional photographer (of the wedding photo / portrait variety). I want to give this person a book that will teach them how to be independent professional photographer as a gift. Something that will give them some insight into aspects of the job beyond having a keen eye and talent. Can you recommend something?
