I'm having problems with taking photos indoors when there's a lot of movement. Prime example: weddings. Most of the shots turn out blurry. I have a basic digital camera with a setting for low light but it's at a low resolution and too grainy to print. Without using a tripod or flash what's the best way to adjust the manual settings to compensate?
Does anyone have any recommendations on what scanner to purchase to scan some photos and negatives? Some of the pictures that I want to scan are older than I am and I was hoping that I could scan these pictures and negatives and then use the program called Aperture to fix some of the imperfections on the pictures. The other thing is that the amount of pictures I have to scan are immense. The number of pictures and negatives will be in the thousands. While this seems like an overwhelming task, I want to be able to show my future children all of their relatives that are no longer with us. I don't want to spend a fortune, but if there are scanners that can facilitate doing this quickly I am willing to save up money to make a good investment that can get this huge project done more quickly. If anyone has any suggestions, please post.
Hi all. I'm thinking of upgrading my camera from a bridge/superzoom to a proper DSLR. My budget is pretty small and it's likely to see some pretty rough use, so I probably don't want to get anything new. I think I have a pretty good idea of my requirements, but navigating the world of obsolete DSLRs is a bit complicated for me so I would appreciate your recommendations. [more inside]

Hi, My wife wants me to take professional catalog photographs for her blog (she builds earrings) where the objects are seen over a black background with a similar effect to this one: sample photograph After asking google and going through lots of info on catalog photographs I believe I know how to more or less get this done but for the mirror effect on the floor. If you see the image they get the product reflected on the floor. How could I get this same effect? Thanks

Photograph print storage and archiving. I have several document boxes full of randomly sized and often somewhat tatty photo wallets, usually containing either 24 or 36 6x4 photos, and neg strips. I'm looking for a storage system to migrate these too. Basically, I'd like to take the photos out the old wallets, put them in the new standard card/plastic wallets, and then add/write some index terms on the top spine and cover. Thank you! [more inside]

Or are there actually some not-terribly-expensive used camera shops in this big pretty city? Are there secondhand shops/thrift stores at all in this town? Aware of El Rastro, tried once with no luck and will probably try again Sunday. I'll also be in London next weekend and am not opposed to buying it there if you know a place. [more inside]

While I would love to make 1500 prints, that isn't very plausible. What's the best way to preserve these pictures and make them easily accessible and viewable in the future? (I might be able to choose 200 or so to make the most accessible and viewable.)
