I'm hoping to automatically extract the individual portraits from scans of yearbook pages without having to manually crop and save each photo. Each page has about 20 portraits. I'm using Windows 8.1.
I have a video recording of a computer screen, and so the resulting video includes some wavy banding artifacts (the kind you often see when you film a monitor or TV). Small sample image. What is this artifact/noise called, and is there any way to remove it? [more inside]

I use Pixlr to create images for my art/history blog because Pixlr has tons of filters and effects that streamlines the process and because it is actually fun to use. Problem is, using the same filters in Pixlr gets old so I'm looking for similar online image editing tools that are easy to use and effects/filter centric. [more inside]

What software do you guys use for online photo albums? I've just gotten a new digital camera and I'd like something that, ideally, can take all the photos I have in a given directory and throw them up on the web in an album. It would be even better if I can add captions and allow comments. We are running Linux at home, and I'm looking for something easy -- I'm no programming goddess. Thanks!
