Does anybody have a good system for rating photos in iPhoto or some other 0-5 stars rating system? [more inside]
Picasa does everything thing I want in a light photo editor (cropping, highlight and shadow correction, roation (90 degree and free)) and browser except it does not support multiple computers using the same meta data. My fricken database has been corrupted again (apparently it doesn't handle 200K+ photos very well either) so I'm looking for an alternative that does support syncing between multiple computers and network storage. MacFilter: Looking for a program or shell script that will allow me to quickly and easily scan my computer (Mac) for duplicates of images and consolidate them so that aren't redundant copies taking up space everywhere. [more inside]
photo blog filter: I enjoy the history site shorpy quite a bit, but I also really like the member gallery (button on left side of main page; not sure why my link here isn't sticking), where contributors post family photos and other sorts of everyday images along with the date of origin and some background info, etc. What other blogs/websites do this kind of thing? Which ones do you like? (Interested in 40s-80s U.S. mostly, but some variation is fine.) [more inside]
What's a good used Nikon DSLR for a beginner? Any models out there that also do video? Looking to spend $300-$400 on the camera body, another $200-$300 on a lens and I have no idea at which of the zillion models to focus my eBay searches on. [more inside]

what sort of device can I buy to show my google tasks next to a corkboard, so I see them on my way out the door? do any photo frames do wireless sync? my first thought was a cheap old itouch, but the screen is tiny, and it does more than I need. low power use would also be a plus (i.e. not a laptop or cheap desktop with wall mounted monitor, which I also thought of - I do have an extra 17" sitting around) I could consider switching to another tasks app if required for the best solution, though I do enjoy gtasks in gmail and calendar.
I found this framed photo at a thrift store. The subject looks very familiar, but I can't place him. Who is he? http://imgur.com/yl6nW

I recently saw a very unflattering photo of Julia Gillard and it reminded me of a similar photo of John Howard that featured prominently in my local newspaper, "The Queensland Times" for a long while until people began to write to the editor about it. Can you help me find that John Howard photo?
I have a photo that I want to rotate a couple of degrees, but all I have on my computer is Paint which will only do it 90 or 180 degrees. I don't want to download a program because this is my work computer, but I don't want to wait till I get home, as I don't have internet access at the moment. Is there something online similar to Photobucket that will let me upload a photo and then edit it, and that is able to custom rotate images? I've tried googling but can't find anything. Any help greatly appreciated!
iPhone App: I want to upload EVERY photo I take, to Flickr, immediately after being taken. This means that I want the app to upload in the background, REGARDLESS of what I'm doing. I may hit the home button and go on to another app, or I may just throw the phone in my pocket. I want the new spiffy multitasking to work as promised and upload my photos. I want to use this as my main camera app. I use a 3GS, so multitasking does work fine. [more inside]

Help! Is it possible to increase the DPI of an image so that it can be printed? Currently, to be "print-acceptable" the image I love would need to be about .5x.75" but I need for it to print about 2x3. [more inside]
My company has posted my photo along with those of other employees on its website. I'm not comfortable with having my picture online, in any context, and would like to ask that it be removed. I'll ask politely, but if my boss insists that it stays, I'd like to know what my rights are. I wasn't asked for permission. I'm in BC, so I guess I'm wondering particularly about BC laws and/or precedents. Please advise, so I know where I stand!

I bought this photo at a yard sale today. The woman who sold it to me had no idea who the people in it are. She said she'd had the photo since 1960. It's clearly a lot older than that. What, if anything, can you tell me about it?

I'm looking for software to create a themed photo slideshow from existing pictures. For example, I want a bunch of pics from a conference to have a "Wild West" theme (or "spy" or "beach", etc.) - frames/background and (ideally) background music. Prefer under $100, but I want to know regardless of price point. Anything out there?

I would like to add video to a scrapbook/photoalbum. What device could best do this, cheaply? I have a Sansa Fuze mp3 player, which is small and can play video, but when turning it on, a reader would have to know how/where to navigate menus to find the videos. Is there anything small, battery powered, and cheap, that when activated, either automatically starts playing the video, or simply presents the reader with a list of videos to choose from?
