I use Iphoto but my wife has a laptop with windows XP installed. She has been using Picasa, but we both hate it. We import pictures then they disappear. It's really difficult to navigate our existing photos, whereas with Iphoto it's fairly simple, even though hardcore photographers seem to hate it. We just want something that allows her to easily import pictures from her camera or card reader and browse them easily with a chronological sort by roll/album/year etc. [more inside]

I need to make a DVD photo slideshow - ie you stick the DVD in your common-garden DVD player, and it gradually goes through the photos on there.
Can you please recommend any freeware software that'll do this? Everything seems to charge, and I'm a cheapskate ;-)

Is there alternative photo organizer software for OS X? iPhoto is driving me nuts. I'm not interested in anything that costs money -- just a reliable free download that will organize and display photos. Thanks.

Is there such a thing as free photo editing software? My 6-months-free-with-computer deal ran out, and Microsoft Paint isn't worth a plug nickel. All I really want to do is resize and crop pictures easily. If there's nothing decent available for free, then I'd be interested in the dirt-cheap category of software, too.
