We have our windows 7 computer organized by user, and the folder system is a mess.
I want to be able to browse photos, and videos, by one simple criteria, date taken. For example, want to see every picture and video on my PC That was taken on July 19, 2013. I don't want it to be tricked by the save date, the edit date, what folder it's in, or which camera was used. Only the date I snapped the shot.
Fantastic would be some kind of timeline that you can very quickly scroll thru and it shows you some kind of date display where you're at.
What do you call those images where each "pixel" is made up of a tiny photo
? Usually the subphotos are thematically related to the main image.
Extra special bonus if you can point me to software (how perfect would a GIMP plugin be? very perfect) that will generate one using a pile of images (cheating by adding tints to individual images is totally fine for these purposes). [more inside]
Can you recommend some scanning software for me? I need to scan a whole bunch of older photos, and I'd like to do it relatively quickly. [more inside]
Can anyone recommend some lightweight photo printing software for WinXP? At work we need something a bit more powerful then the built in windows print wizard, but not much more. Multiple photos per page with metadata (date, time, file name) is really about all we need.
I'm looking for really simple PHP image gallery software that does RSS, automatically parses a directory of images, and automatically generates thumbnails. That's really about it. [more inside]
Picasa does everything thing I want in a light photo editor (cropping, highlight and shadow correction, roation (90 degree and free)) and browser except
it does not support multiple computers using the same meta data
. My fricken database has been corrupted again (apparently it doesn't handle 200K+ photos very well either) so I'm looking for an alternative that does support syncing between multiple computers and network storage. [more inside]

Are there any alternatives to PolyVision's Whiteboard Photo software

I'm looking for software to create a themed photo slideshow from existing pictures. For example, I want a bunch of pics from a conference to have a "Wild West" theme (or "spy" or "beach", etc.) - frames/background and (ideally) background music. Prefer under $100, but I want to know regardless of price point. Anything out there?
PhotoRecognitionFilter: I'm looking for inexpensive (or ideally open source) image matching software that is relatively easy to build a website around (with some decent coding knowledge). [more inside]

I use Iphoto but my wife has a laptop with windows XP installed. She has been using Picasa, but we both hate it. We import pictures then they disappear. It's really difficult to navigate our existing photos, whereas with Iphoto it's fairly simple, even though hardcore photographers seem to hate it. We just want something that allows her to easily import pictures from her camera or card reader and browse them easily with a chronological sort by roll/album/year etc. [more inside]

I need to make a DVD photo slideshow - ie you stick the DVD in your common-garden DVD player, and it gradually goes through the photos on there.
Can you please recommend any freeware software that'll do this? Everything seems to charge, and I'm a cheapskate ;-)
Is there alternative photo organizer software for OS X? iPhoto is driving me nuts. I'm not interested in anything that costs money -- just a reliable free download that will organize and display photos. Thanks.
Is there such a thing as free photo editing software? My 6-months-free-with-computer deal ran out, and Microsoft Paint isn't worth a plug nickel. All I really want to do is resize and crop pictures easily. If there's nothing decent available for free, then I'd be interested in the dirt-cheap category of software, too.
