Is there a non-photo shop option that will let me create a collage where I can resize photos and some other basic tweaks? [more inside]
In the early '90s, in the back of my high school photography textbook, there was a gallery of photos. One was a black&white of two people wearing plaid shirts looking at elephants over a fence in a zoo. The photo was composed so one didn't immediately notice that further down the fence, there were two more people standing with boxes over their heads. Any help identifying this (or even better, finding a print) would be much appreciated.
I'd like to get my passport photos taken in Seattle. The complication is that they need to meet dimensions required for a Canadian passport. Camera shops are mostly out of business, and FedEx and UPS offices can only take pictures meeting US passport dimensions (they print out to 2" x 2", and are too small). Per instructions, I am not allowed to take them myself. Do I have any other reliable and inexpensive options available in the Seattle area?
I'm editing and typesetting my grandfather's memoir. I have many (over 100) photos of his I digitized now on my computer, but many are missing captions. What site/tool should I use to go through the photos with him? He's quite tech savvy for someone in his 90s, but he also lives across the country and it's hard for him to hear on the phone.

What are the best Windows 7 applications for making a respectful slideshow for a funeral? I'm thinking there will be mostly pictures, but some video may be included as well. For now I'm thinking I won't be including music in the slideshow, but I'd still like to hear about software with music functionality as well.
A headshot was recently taken of me by a friend, in front of an orange brick wall with a repeating interlocking Greek meander pattern (here is an example). I love the photo: finally, I look capable and presentable. But... does that pattern look too much like the Nazi cross? Should I try to get a new background? [more inside]
I'd love to see more work by this photographer. I've tried what I think are likely google searches and have found nothing - maybe I'm using the wrong search terms, but if anyone knows or has suggestions, I'd be grateful! Photo here.
I traveled to DC, SF, NYC, and a few other cities taking photos with a film camera... and I can't tell where this photo's from. City-identifiers with good memories, help me!
I saw a picture earlier this year, probably on Reddit and/or Imgur, of two young kids on a carnival ride having the time of their lives. Right behind them were two slightly older kids or teens looking sullen and glued to their phones. The general layout was something like this. Does anyone remember seeing it, or can you help me find it? [more inside]
I was a very happy Picasa user, but for reasons like the push to G+ and an attempt to minimize my general Google reliance I'm looking for another service. [more inside]
OK, so I recently spilled beer on my Fujifilm X100S. Doh! Luckily, the camera still functions fine. Unluckily, most of the manual control dials are now sticky and hard to adjust, including the focus ring, aperture ring, battery/card door and optical/digital viewfinder switch. It's kind of a mess. Help! [more inside]

There is an interesting photograph on the wall of my chemistry tutor's classroom. The photo was on the wall when he rented the room, so he does not know its provenance, and my searches have yet to turn up a source. Can you help me figure out where it comes from? [more inside]
What do you call those images where each "pixel" is made up of a tiny photo? Usually the subphotos are thematically related to the main image. Extra special bonus if you can point me to software (how perfect would a GIMP plugin be? very perfect) that will generate one using a pile of images (cheating by adding tints to individual images is totally fine for these purposes). My cousin is trying to track down the exact location shown in this photo. The photo is about 20 years old, and was taken somewhere in Ireland.
I am looking for a digital camera that is easier to carry around than my DSLR, but a more capable camera than my smartphone. I am looking to spend at most $500. I have a couple ideas, but it's been a long time since I shopped for cameras, and I wanted some more recommendations. [more inside]

I'd like to find high resolution versions of publicity photos from certain reality shows: Buck Wild, Duck Dynasty, Call of the Wildman, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Moonshiners. Obviously, the press is given access to these images so I wonder if any of those high resolution images are available to the public. [more inside]

Photo submitted to TV station in Montana - the horses at first seem almost "inserted" or 'shopped into the photo, but on closer look, seem legit. Any experts want to take a crack and confirm/deny this is an unaltered photo? Imgur link.
I have a good scan of the group photo from my grandparents wedding. I know who several of the people are in the photo, and I know that all my grandmother's eight brothers are in the group, but I do not know which brother is which. My Dad has made his best guesses, but he's not sure about many of them. I have recently made contact with several second cousins in the family while doing my genealogical research, so I thought I could get each of them to give me their best guesses in some sort of online survey, and compile the answers to get a sort of family crowd-sourced opinion. But how best to do this? [more inside]

I am a procrastinator and now I am up against a gift-giving deadline (Saturday!) with no time for shipping. For reasons I won't get into here, its really important that I can include custom stickers (small squarish ones like 2x2 or label size; dimensions are not so important). I thought it would be easy to have them made at Walmart or a drugstore but it looks like those places will only ship them to you, not print them in the store. If I have to, I can buy sticker paper and print them myself but the quality of my home printer is not great. Are there any obvious choices I am overlooking?

Can you read the letters and numbers on the number plate in this picture? For reasons that should remain confidential at this point, we are trying to track down the company that owns it. Unfortunately, the photo has a significant amount of motion blur (in two directions) and graininess, and Photoshop is not helping. (The only program that seems to handle the deblurring required, Amped Five, is expensive commercial software not available for casual use such as this.) This is a Swedish number plate, so the first three should be letters, the last three digits. Note how the last two digits look like '3' but not quite. None of the searches we have done on the Swedish Transport Agency's web site match a semi of this size.
Please recommend a photo printer. [more inside]
