I'm looking for a record player for my parents for Christmas, the highest quality within a budget of $400-$500. This has been addressed in the past, but that was a year ago, and my budget is greater. Can any audiophiles give me recommendations on equipment? [more inside]

Can anyone recommend a store in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area that not only sells phonograph needles but can provide expert advice on which one to get? We want to replace the needle before digitizing the collection. We can figure out what would be compatible but need help figuring out the right price/quality trade-off. Also, if you have a specific brand to recommend that might be useful too.

EMFilter- I have my old classroom-style record player set up next to my computer monitor, which is causing mild screen jitters. Moving them farther apart is not an option, and I don't want to buy any prefab stuff. Are there any homebrew tinfoil-type solutions?
