I am signed up for an AT&T Premier account through a family member. They get the bill, I pay them, they pay AT&T - though there's a huge run-around of waiting for them to tell me the amount, getting the money to them, waiting for them to pay the bill. The family member tells me that the discount is only in effect if everything on the account stays the same. Really? I figure that I can change the name and/or billing address (so that the bill comes directly to me) and nothing happens, as long as the email stays authenticated. Or am I mistaken?

Do cell phone signal boosters
like this one from Radio Shack actually work? Apparently an external antenna is mounted outside your home, and this is connected to a "desktop amplifier." In most rooms in my house, I'm riding with a single bar of signal (thank you, AT&T). If this can help, I'm all in.
Does anyone have any experience with one of these?

Since I have been recently working and living in Egypt, I intend to buy myself a new phone and some electronics, and maybe clothes. (electronics here are too expensive and not everything is available)

How can I add money to my T-Mobile Sim Card in Germany without knowing German? I'm in a little town where there doesn't seem to be a T-Mobile store or any other obvious place to add funds. I can call a number but it's all in German! Is there an easier way to do this?

I've got an HTC Magic (also known by the execrable name myTouch 3G) running Android 1.6 from T-Mobile. I also have a MacBookPro running OS 10.4.11. Does a tethering program exist that will let me use my phone to supply an internet connection for my computer?
It seems that I can't use PdaNet (my computer would need to be a PC, or I would need a phone running Android 2.0). Do any other good programs exist that fit my specifications?

I am considering switching to Straight Talk Wireless when my Sprint contract expires in January, and I am looking for people's experience with Straight Talk. The pricing looks too good to be true, the phones look kind of sucky, and I read somewhere that their customer support isn't great. It is also difficult to find reviews on their phones. Can anyone who has actually used their service testify to it either way?

Does anyone know of a voice dial service (like GOOG-411) that works in the US for residential as well as business numbers, on landline phones? It's for a blind person with limited mobility, so the service needs to actually place the call for the user, and not require any dialing or button-pushing beyond the initial call.

I'm looking at getting a new phone and a new service provider. After careful searching, almost all companies require a stringent credit check. I have horrible credit. Prepaid is not an option as any decent prepaid phone is ridiculously expensive and the service is generally sub par.
I narrowed it down to something from Virgin Mobile or Helio. I have heard some bad about both companies, but since neither require a credit check, these are my choices. I'd rather not go with Virgin Mobile as almost all of their phones feel like cheap plastic and some even feel like a cheap ceramic. This leaves Helio.

How accurate are political polls in the age of the cell phone? Here's why I ask: Out of nine folks in my office, seven of us have no landlines in our homes; we are mobile exclusive. Of the those seven, six are voting Obama and one is voting McCain. The two of us with landlines are split one to one for Obama-McCain. Any pollsters working in our neck of the woods would see the race in a dead heat, one to one. In reality, we're seven to two. So, aren't the polls growing more skewed with every passing year? Do some pollsters actually call cell-phone users? If not, there's a bias.
