Talk to me about Lithium-ion batterys on my iPhone and iPad. Seems to be many vague opinions on care and maintenence, 'discharge fully once a month, but charge frequently', etc. I currently aim for charging when it hits near 40-50% if I'm near a outlet. What's your take on how to best make these batterys live longest?

I need a new phone for the home office. Degree of difficulty: Home phone service is VOIP, so the "base unit" must be in a closet in the living room, but I need speakerphone functionality (ideally a constantly-plugged-in unit, not a handset) three rooms away in the office. [more inside]

I'm looking for a cheapish mobile phone that can do basic internet chores (facebook, email, basic web stuff). I can't afford a smartphone or the monthly contract that comes with them. I am in the UK. Do you have a phone in this category that you like/hate? What would you recommend? Extensive information about my personal needs and whims follows: [more inside]

I work for a smallish Phone/TV/Internet company. We believe our network is really the best available, and our service is great, but customers are leaving us at a higher rate than we would like. (not "We're doomed!" levels, but still more than we would like). We are trying to think of "outside the box" ideas to retain and potentially add customers. [more inside]

Do newer cell phones pick up cell phone tower signals better? My Dad had a Tracfone analog cell phone that picked up signal fine in a part of our county that he hunts in but Tracfone upgraded his phone to a digital cell phone about 3 years ago and now he can not get signal in that part of the county anymore. I contacted Tracfone at the time this happened to see if I could update his phone with any new cell phone towers and was told the phone automatically updates with new cell phone towers. If I bought him a newer Tracfone what are chances it will pick up better then the one he has?

My husband is receiving annoying phone calls from his ex (a friend gave his number out without knowing any better). He does not want to change his cell number due to his numerous work contacts. When he sees her number he doesn't answer and then she leaves messages. He has told her to stop but she must be a mental case, she has been calling for 2 months. What would be a solution to this other than changing his number? If he had the number blocked we figure she will just call from another number.

I work on a group of 11 developers. Our operations folks work 24/7, and occasionally servers go down or things break and a developer needs to be on-call to support these things. We have an 800 number that forwards to the on-call engineer's cell phone (rotated weekly semi-predictably) and has a centralized voicemail for missed calls. Unfortunately, our current service is a pain to configure and only supports a maximum of 10 forwarding numbers. Do you guys know of any services out there that would do something like what we're doing? I'm not sure what we're paying now, but it's probably under $100 a month.

My place of employment has a long and convoluted phone tree that our clients have to wade through when they call in. No one in the organization seems to have written everything down in one place, and I'm trying to create a...document?...that allows us to conceptualize which of our menu options lead where, and what they say at each point. What's the best/easiest way to do this and make it useful? [more inside]

Require a replacement for my landline and the 30 bucks a month that it costs me as I now have 4 cell phones in the house.
Require a telephone device that (a) rings on more than one handset (b) has access to cheap long distance (c) good quality and dependable.
I realize Google Voice does a lot of this, but I'm in Canada and we don't have Google Voice available here yet or any indication of how soon it could be arriving.
Is all of this possible without a landline?
What services can you recommend to get me closer to my goal?
