I'm heading to Bangkok in ten days for about two weeks. I looked into using my iPhone 5 overseas and the answers from ATT made me think twice about it. So for 100 bucks I bought a used Iphone 3GS. I figure I'd just buy a sim card there and I'd be all set. But then I thought I should check. Do I need to unlock it? or jailbreak it? Is there anything specific to Thailand and Iphones I need to know? What's the process here?
I'm searching for the best SIM card for a one month stay in Japan. I've already found e-connect (1 GB/30 days, only data @ 4100 Yen), but I would prefer an option including SMS/speech.
My Nexus 7 was lost/stolen. I've changed my google, facebook and amazon passwords. Is there anything else I can do? It does not have 3G networking; only wi-fi.
My uncle has a Vodavi Starplus STS / system and KSU with 6 CO lines / which is 6 different phone #s can be used on the system. He recently changed 2 of his three lines to cox digital service. He still has one line with CenturyLink/Qwest. His phone system will not connect with the new digital lines. Cox says it's a Vodavi problem. The Vodavi guy says that there isn't enough voltage on the Cox lines. So, who's right? Will my uncle's Vodavi system work with the older CentruyLink line as well as the newer Cox digital lines?
For the last four months, I've been getting anywhere between 3 and 60 calls per day on my cell phone from (555) 555-5555, at all hours. If I pick up, it's a recorded voice, somewhere between a computer and a british lady saying "one... one... one..." What the hell is going on, and how do I make it stop? [more inside]

How can I unlock an iphone tied to t-mobile in the UK? I have received as a Christmas present an iphone which is locked to t-mobile. I am currently on an 02 contract that ties me for a further 6 months. Clearly, I would like to use my 02 sim with this iphone, however, when I went to a shop who specialised in phone unlocking, to get it unlocked, I was told that he could not unlock it and that it would take atleast a month to get t-mobile to unlock it. It was also mentioned that the merger of t-mobile in to the new company everything everywhere will probably delay the unlocking further. I am getting the impression that I will be forced to take out a t-mobile contract as it stands. Anyone out there have any recent knowledge about t-mobile unlocking. Many thanks!
On my last smartphone, I could push a button, say "Find pizza" and the phone would bring up a map showing all the local pizzerias. Or "Find 300 Commonwealth Avenue" and it would show me a map with my destination and where I was. Now when I say "Find pizza" my phone instead does an internet search for pizza. If it is a more specific command, often the internet search will lead me to an option to find the selected item using Google Maps instead. But it's still a little annoying that I have to choose things with my finger instead of my voice. [more inside]
[I am old/paranoid/a special snowflake filter] I am a Mac person. I have mostly avoided google products in my life, and am not eager for google to know everything about me. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Screen Question: So I was dumb!! I was outside doing some random stuff in the backyard...Had my phone then decided to rinse off the back porch w/ water. Well i set down my phone and forgotten about it, and after i finished rinsing off the patio i realized my phone had got wet. There was water mostly just on the screen and probably had been sitting there for five minutes or less. I dried it, and then dried it more, took of the cover and it was a little wet on the inside but not bad. Everything is working fine, my main question is, could this have damaged the AMOLED screen at all?
Help me find an iPhone case / cover for my mom, please. [more inside]

I can't stand my iPhone 4S any longer, but I've still got a year and a half to wait for the contract to end (AT&T). I'd love to switch to an Android, because I'm sick of having to use iTunes just to get a few songs on to the device. I'd like to get an HTC One X, but am open to suggestions. What are my options for replacing this piece of crap? Should I just try and unlock/sell my iPhone on craigslist?

During the past three and a half hours, I've received ten telemarketer calls on my cell phone. Post-Sandy, we are thinking it would be good to have an old-fashioned landline for future outages. We currently have FIOS phone, cable and internet. When we lost power, after the second day we had no home phone I guess because the battery backup died. So is there such a thing as old-fashioned landline service anymore? And who can I call to get this service from? In central NJ?

I've just set up a Google Voice number. When someone calls the number, the person hears something like, "Please wait while Google Voice connects you." Is there a way for the connection to be transparent to the caller, i.e. for them not to know that they're calling a Google Voice number? It seems like there should be but I'm not having any luck figuring it out...
