I have used the Galaxy Note2,3,4, and I loved them. I specifically love the removable battery, and the external sd card slot, along with the huge screen and really long battery life. Help me pick my next smart phone (as the note 5 has no removable battery/ micro sd card) [more inside]
Where is the best place (Boots, WH Smith?) to buy a top up simcard for my AT&T Galaxy S5 on arrival at Gatwick Airport?

Mrs Maninsuit is hard to reach on her phone. She sometimes turns the volume down and forgets to turn the volume back up. She sometimes has it in her purse or her pocket and doesn't hear/notice its ringing. I want to be able to reach her! And she wants me to be able to reach her (or at least so she says, bless her heart). Are there good solutions? She has a Samsung Galaxy S4. [more inside]
So I'm going to Curacao in a couple weeks and I really need to have a working cell phone while I'm out there. What's the easiest way to do this? I will need calls, txts, and data. [more inside]
My iPhone 4s was lost in Manhattan today, and has been traced to a very different neighborhood. I went there with a friend and it's in an area with lots of cars and apartments, so finding it's exact location is not as easy as if it were in a house that had a big yard. Or any yard. What else can I do to potentially get my phone back? [more inside]
I take work calls from my computer, and want a solution to improve my sound that isn't a headset or Bluetooth. Any ideas? [more inside]
My current phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5, is all sorts of smashed and dying. I would like a replacement that runs a recent build of Android, works on my carrier (Verizon), and has a physical keyboard. Halp? (Details inside.) [more inside]
My wife and I both are using MotoX (2014) phones that are only a couple of months old, and we both keep finding strange artifacts in our photos. For an example, see this picture: Image with artifacts. (look at the faces) [more inside]
Applied for a dream job on the dream organization; a couple of days later got an email directly from the hiring manager (director of department) to schedule a phone chat. I fully meet the qualifications and personality traits but for crazy reasons I completely blowed the phone interview. The director closed the conversation emphasizing how impressive my resume was. I can't find how to have Google create a playlist using only my music on my phone. Does it still exist? [more inside]
Suddenly, when I use my finger on my iPhone (in some circumstances, but not others, and confusingly timed), a red dot shows up. I don't think I did anything to make this happen, but it happens fairly frequently. I've tried to google but can't find an answer on point. Thanks!
My Nexus 4 is getting a bit long in the tooth, looking for something similar but with updated specs. I've gone through the G1, G2, and Nexus 4, and would just hop right on up to the Nexus 5, but I get the feeling that options have opened up in the current + last gen of devices. My list of prioritized features inside. [more inside]
I'm travelling to help an elderly relative (in pain, sciatica, on pain meds) who is 83 and fuzzing mentally. She has been pretty good with computers for years, but is having trouble maintaining her PC. I thought an iPhone would be easier but she hasn't taken to it. So I'm looking for some kind of ultra simple phone (few features, big buttons, I doubt she'll text), and a replacement computer. [more inside]
I'm sick of the mess of usb and power cables all over my living room and specifically on the side table next to my spot on the couch. What solutions have you come up with to deal with the ugliness of an abundance of frequently used electronics that you want to have handy that passes a reasonable adult living room decor bar? In the next few days, I'll be making two long (90+ minute each) calls from the US to mobile phones in the Netherlands. I prefer to use my landline for these calls, which is Voip through Xfinity. Their international calling plan, which is $10 for 300 minutes, would be awesome but it specifically doesn't cover Dutch mobile phones. The Xfinity rate is $.30/minute, which is more than I'd like to pay. What options do I have? [more inside]
I received my GoogleFi invite this morning, but now I'm confused about whether I should take the plunge. Does anyone have any experience with this yet? [more inside]

I am looking for a weekend and weekday (after 6pm) virtual receptionist service that could take a few calls for a small company. I have done a few searches but all seem to provide their services on weekdays. Know of one you would recommend?
I'm working on a fun project which involves multiple bicycles and multiple boomboxes. I am trying to figure out how to synchronize music playback on all of these boomboxes, using phones. I assume this would be streaming from the internet (3G/4G/whatever), but are there streaming services that ensure totally synchronized playback across multiple devices? [more inside]

I have 2 problems with my apple devices. Can you help? I am not tech savvy and its not a good time for me to replace devices. 1) I just upgraded my software on my Ipad 2 and now the safari is so slow its unusable- is there anything I can do? I have done all the standard things like delete apps and stop excess things running and done a hard reset. Can I downgrade back to IOs 7? That's the last time it ran well. 2) My safari on my Iphone 5 has started getting pop up ads that force open my app store right when I am in the middle of reading. Again, I feel like I have tried everything, I even reset all my settings. Tried to block the websites. What can I do? [more inside]

I just got a phone from Amazon; we have verified that it is unocked, but when we put the sim card in (wind provider) it doesn't work, and in the settings is has it listed as "wind away" as though it thinks that I am out of their signal range. [more inside]
I'm trying to buy a mobile phone that is unlocked. I want to avoid getting it from the big stores in Toronto, and I am looking online for a good option. I am really not that tech-savvy, and if I had to choose between Android and iPhone, I'd go with whichever has a better deal. Ideas? [more inside]
My company offers to cover our phone bill, however I'm currently on my family's plan. I've been grandfathered into unlimited data and I don't want to lose that. Is it possible to put my individual ATT account on hold, while leaving the rest of the family plan active, and still keep the same number either on an ATT individual account or another service provider?
Google Plus has an unmanaged page for a local business that incorrectly lists my parents' phone number instead of the correct one. How do we fix this? [more inside]
Do the clear blue-filtering screen protectors for mobile devices actually do anything? An example. I have a few at hand, and they are completely transparent, I think the product is just a plain clear screen protector. [more inside]
I have a Galaxy S3 I'm upgrading this week, and want to be able to brick it so that my 10 year old daughter can use it for the basics (calls, texts, calculator, etc.) without all the extra Internet and games that will turn her into a zombie at school. I've seen the dumb phone app and similar, but they are all time limited. I want to brick the dang thing permanently. Any advice? Different OS? Ways to block she can't get around? A phone plan with no data? [more inside]
I've gotten 30 spam phone calls in the last 7 hours. Why? How do I make it stop? [more inside]

On public transit, do you feel threatened about people holding devices with cameras in such a way that they could potentially be taking pictures or recording? Do you feel pressure about how you hold your own camera-capable devices? This is more of a general question, but details about why I became curious are as follows. [more inside]
Traveling to Israel in May. What are my best options for using a smartphone while in-country without breaking the bank? I won't need a lot of data, but I'd like to be able to check email and consult Google Maps. I have an iPhone 6 on Verizon in case it makes sense to use that. Thanks!
Right now I pay AT&T $120 each month for iPhone talk/text/data service. For the past several months, all I have really used is maybe 1-2 hours of talk per month and perhaps 100 texts. I don't use the data at all. I miss ye olde $40/month Cingular plan on my indestructible Nokia brick of yore. How do I get back to that place (and keep my current phone number)? [more inside]

I have an Alcatel One Touch. I had it for a few months, and then suddenly it started asking me every night at 10PM "Sleep time is coming, the phone will switch to Sleep mode. Do you want to change?" I must have accidentally activated this feature, and I want to turn it off. I've read the manual and Googled, but haven't been able to figure out a solution. Thanks!
I have a VERY small company. We are moving locations. We are going to switch from our PBX system -- as we've shrunk to a point where that makes no sense any more -- to each of us having direct lines on dedicated mobile phones. Can you lend me your ideas? Specific questions inside. [more inside]
I don't think there's any way to uninstall the Google Photo bloatware on my unrooted Android phone, which is super-annoying. I've turned off "upload to Google+" but am angsty that one day, after an update or whatever, it might re-default to upload. I don't want Google saving copies of my stuff, and I am not reassured by their help materials, which talk about me "not seeing" the images anymore if I delete them. That's not the same as Google not having them, which is what I'm trying to avoid. Without rooting my phone, is there a way I can delete the app, or stop it from storing my stuff? [more inside]
I have resisted getting a smartphone for years, but it's time to give in. My problem is that I'm totally clueless about how to do this. What phone should I get? What provider? What kind of data plan? Please help! [more inside]
I love puzzle games, like The Room, Room 2, Monument Valley, Tiny Bang Theory, Botanicula, all those kinds of things (I have, in fact, gotten many recommendations from others' previous AskMes). The thing is, these games all add up memory-wise. I have finished them once, but know that I will enjoy returning to them in the future after I've forgotten some of the bits. How do I move them somewhere else to free up memory in the meantime? Or can I just delete them and download them again later? [more inside]
I just broke my 2nd smartphone in 6 months. I have always been absent-minded, and can't afford to waste so much money. I'm looking for an off-contract android smartphone that lets me browse the internet + Youtube, without breaking the bank. Bonus points if it's hard to break. [more inside]

Recently I have been getting random calls asking me for personal information in connection to business things which are private. When I ask whom is calling they hang up. This is to a private number I only give out to a handful of people. Is there a service online which will give me the name of the person associated with a number? (Based in Canada).
I wonder: should I buy new cell phone outright, or get another subsidized phone? [more inside]
I have a Galaxy 3s. I've been using the Google Play music app to listen to music but using the Windows Media Player to rip CDs and sync to my phone. I've been storing music on my SD card. The music is there on my phone but the app doesn't seem to find it when I search for the name. I am sad because those vital tunes are not available while i'm on the go! [more inside]
