Need a new phone for myself and my wife, usually there's a "hot" phone (iPhone, HTC Evo 4G, Samsung Galaxy S3, etc) - whatever the top phone is. That seems to change every 6 months, and I just can't keep up. Also, I don't keep up with the release cycle - if I buy the hot phone today, is it essentially going to be obsolete in 3 months?

I have had a reasonably happy relationship with my T-Mobile G2 (aka HTC Desire Z) these past two years, but my contract is up, and I have long coveted the iPhone, mostly based on its picture taking and video chatting capabilities. Should I just get one and take advantage of T-Mobile's new pricing? Or should I jump to a new carrier? An attempt to make this less open-ended is inside.

How can I unlock an iphone tied to t-mobile in the UK?
I have received as a Christmas present an iphone which is locked to t-mobile. I am currently on an 02 contract that ties me for a further 6 months. Clearly, I would like to use my 02 sim with this iphone, however, when I went to a shop who specialised in phone unlocking, to get it unlocked, I was told that he could not unlock it and that it would take atleast a month to get t-mobile to unlock it. It was also mentioned that the merger of t-mobile in to the new company everything everywhere will probably delay the unlocking further. I am getting the impression that I will be forced to take out a t-mobile contract as it stands. Anyone out there have any recent knowledge about t-mobile unlocking.
Many thanks!

Is there a prepaid phone plan in the US that will let me use my Samsung Galaxy S2 at full speeds, for short visits (ie: without having to pay for a full month of use)?

I'm thinking about getting an Obi110 VOIP appliance to replace our T-Mobile @Home service that's set to expire soon and keeping us tethered to an expensive plan.
Is Google Voice the best service to go with, or should I go for another SIP voip provider? 911, either built in or third party, is a must.

My T-Mobile contract expires in a couple months, and I'm considering ditching smartphones entirely and getting a tablet, instead. Anyone have any experience with this? Especially VoIP experience.

Can you suggest a good, cheap, hopefully easily-available-on-ebay-used T-mobile phone? I don't need a ton of features, but I want something that does all the basic stuff really well.

Should I get the T-mobile G1 with Google Android? Is there some cooler second generation Android phone coming out in the next 3-4 months that I should be holding out for?
