What are my chances of getting into a decent economics grad program with a math degree with a "meh" GPA (3.2ish), a law degree with a pretty good GPA (3.7+), and a high GRE quantitative score (790)? Also, how much does the prestige (rank) of grad program matter in the economics field?

Four days ago, my partner got an email from her #1 grad school choice that sounded good. How excited should we be? I know there are many variables at work here that neither you nor we can know at this time, but I want to know if I can be excited and happy or if I should try to calm myself down. I know many people here are phD's from the hard sciences as well and I am hoping you can provide some perspective. Here are the details:

Where do i find some of the top professors and researchers (in universities) doing Micro-Sociology (interaction or social mechanism based). This is the level of research that I wish to focus my research on, I just cant seem to find the researchers using that level of analysis. Also, are there some seminal texts in the micro sociology fields.

I found my dream school, but everyone is telling me to apply to secondary choices. I need to find sociology PhD programs that value public sociology and have solid social psychology/organizational theory focuses.
