I want to see the wheels turning in my dog's head.

My Old English Sheepdog is bored with his Kong. What brain-teasing toys and games do you entertain your dog with? I am very impressed with the design and concept of the Dog Brick, however budgetary constraints compel me to seek out less expensive options from the hivemind. So, how do you give your dog's brain a mental workout, with the end result being the satisfaction of finding a yummy treat?

My dog can't stop eating the trash. Help.

My Old English sheepdog has developed a very bad habit of using his snout to pop open the lid of our trash can in the kitchen - and then helping himself to whatever's inside. I've tried scolding him, as have my sisters and my parents. All he does is give us that same goofy-looking, puzzled expression, and then fifteen minutes later he's at it again. He's very well-fed and has more than his fair share of daily dog treats. Putting the trash inside a cabinet is not an option, and we'd really rather not resort to putting it on top of a clean kitchen counter. Help! [more inside]

I should've named him Sparky.

Any tips for getting rid of static electricity in big, furry dogs? My Old English sheepdog is always rubbing against the couch and rolling around on the carpet. Every time I scratch him behind his ears, I get a slight jolt. I've tried rubbing down his favorite pillow with a Bounce sheet, but of course the static always comes back. Thanks to everyone in advance.

How do you get pine tree sap out of a dog's hair?

My Old English sheepdog Max likes to sit under a pine tree in my backyard, and thus he often gets sticky pine needle sap stuck in his fur. Is there any way to easily get this stuff out, preferably involving natural ingredients? (mi+) [more inside]
