the canine's incisor

I have an older dog whose front tooth is loose enough that I can wiggle it with my fingers. I'm taking him into the vet tomorrow, but before I do, I'm wondering: is it possible for the vet to remove a dog's tooth without putting him under anesthesia?

He's a very good boy !

My best buddy, an Australian Cattle Dog named "Willie Nelson" has Cushing's Disease , and will require medication for the remainder of his life (he's 14). The prescription is for Vetoryl (trilostane 60mg), and through my Vet it's $100, but he said he would be happy to write a Rx for an online provider. I see prices as low as $67, but I want to make sure Willie is getting just what the Dr. ordered. Which online provider do you use? which ones do you avoid ?

Thinking of a tail in a cast makes me giggle.

Is there a veterinarian on the house? Bella, seen here, stuck her tail out a car door as it was closing. Big yelp, no blood, I can feel a lump about halfway down. She's also carrying it straight down which is not normal. [more inside]

Is my kitty sick or in need of a nose job?

Does my cat have a chronic respiratory infection, or is it possible she just naturally has poor breathing passages? Ever since my partner and I adopted her and her sister in August she has had periodic coughing and hacking fits that have been relatively unaffected by three separate rounds of antibiotics. Now I wonder if maybe she just has the equivalent of a deviated septum, or whether it's time for hospitalization. [more inside]

Is my vet gouging me?

1. Am I wrong to think that $110.00 is too much to pay the vet for a 10-minute appointment to look at my cat's eye and hand me a 3.5 gram tube of erythromycin ointment? 2. If the answer to 1 is "yes," can you recommend a good vet near Newton Upper Falls, MA, USA? 3.
