Seeking to re-squeak dog's favorite toys

My small dog loves squeaky tennis balls and will chase them incessantly, morning and night. However, he is also quite adept at de-squeaking these toys, sometimes within minutes. While he does continue to play with the balls after they have lost their sound, these are far less alluring. As neither my budget nor my house has room for the infinite supply of fresh squeaky balls he desires, I seek to re-squeak these balls with fresh squeakers and some super glue. [more inside]

Dog + Delivery Driver + Paws through window pane ≠ good times

Eleven hours ago our 80 pound dog, Oscar, put both his front paws through a small pane of glass in a set of french doors which resulted in lacerations to the "back" of both front legs. Thankfully we were home and reacted quickly by summoning our neighbor who is an exotic pet veterinarian. She was able to wrap up both legs and call ahead to the ER vet. Even with this quick reaction Oscar still lost a lot of blood and did pretty serious damage to one of his legs. The ER vet was able to repair the severed (partially or completely, they did not provide specifics) muscle, tendon and artery and we were able to bring him home about six hours ago. Now what? How do I get our cat to bury her poop?

I am not a cat person, but my wife likes cats, so we have one. Our cat consistently uses the litter box (which is much more than I can say for the last cat we had). However, she almost never buries it, and the odor is, of course, offensive. [more inside]

Wanted: weird, reclusive roommate who poops in a box

I've been living with my parents while fixing up my home. They have two dogs and a cat. It turns out that I love having cuddly, friendly buddies around. I'm going to be moving home this weekend and want a buddy of my own. I've always wanted a cat, but I want one that is super friendly. Do you own or have experience with Sphynx cats? Are they as affectionate and dog-like as websites claim? Or any other breeds known for being affectionate? My adult son and I live together and have opposite schedules, so the cat would almost never be alone

Should I give up my cat to a roommate?

When my partner and I wound up living apart for grad school, our girl cat went with him to his new shared house. In the past 2 years, his roommate has become very attached to the cat. However, my partner is moving to my place to share an apartment with me and our male cat - these cats have managed together in the past, but some specific challenges (within)... What would be best for everyone, but mostly the girl cat, in this situation? Warning - long! [more inside]

The cat is driving us crazy.

After moving to a new apartment my cat has spent nearly 100% of his waking hours HOWLING at the door. Pacing in front of it. Jumping up and batting at the knob. When we open the door he BOLTS out, down the hallway and to the stairs where he just lays down and looks pleased with himself. [more inside]

Comfy Yoga/Workout Pants in the Right Texture for a Curvy Gal?

Hola folks! I am located in WNY area near the Canadian border (willing to drive into Ontario for shoppin'!) and am hoping someone can guide me in the right direction for the right kind of pants. I am looking for Semi-Fitted Lower-waisted (I am short waisted but have serious hips - I HATE those fold-down waist ones with a burning passion) Yoga pants to wear for Yoga & Workouts that also are *not* a matte/cotton type texture. I have light coloured animals in my home and also am self conscious about wearing light colours...hence for the sake of my sanity I like my yoga pants to be a "slick" texture and black or another dark colour. reclaiming the pet deposit (cleaning a house that reeks of dog urine)

A week before my former roommate moved out her dog came into heat, resulting in my own ankle biter marking everything he could hike his little leg at. Apparently in his haze of lust he decided that bathing the house in stink would boost his chances of getting a bit of action. Defiled items include the back of my couch, my box spring and the linoleum in the kitchen (where I keep him penned up when I'm out). Also some bedding and other small items I'm comfortable throwing away instead of trying to clean. Next week I'm moving to another property under the same management and hoping to get back most of my deposits (as well as keeping in the landlord's good grace) by getting the house as minty fresh as possible before I turn in the key. I'm looking for some low budget recommendations on getting the stench out. I would prefer they be methods that you've used with success, so if I have further questions I can actually discuss it with someone who has experience with the specific method. [more inside]

Need advice on transitioning cats to healthier cat food

We have 2 cats that are a little less than 2 years old. They are both active and healthy little terrors with no medical issues. One of them seems like she is always hungry. While I get that there are some animals that will whine for food until they drop dead from overfeeding, when I gave her more she seemed happier. However, at that point she gained a little more weight than she should have to remain healthy, so I wanted to find some food that is more nutritious, has less byproducts, more protein and helps them feel fuller. How to cope with roomie's annoying pets

I share an apartment. I have a great relationship with my roommate. When I met her before I moved in she told me “I work a lot of hours, my home is my sanctuary, I like to come home to a calm unstressful environment.” I am the same way. On to the problem. I am not an animal lover but I have lived with dogs and cats before it has been fine. The issue is her dog is a Chihuahua that always barks. [more inside]

Cat sitter in Boston

I moved back to Boston a bit over a year ago. previously I was living in the suburbs in a southeastern city and had a really great pet sitter: she would come to the house to care for my pets daily when I travelled. I have had trouble finding a similar person here. I have had a few short work-related trips, for which my building doorman sufficed. When I took a longer personal vacation, I used yelp to find a pet sitter. The person I chose was recommended but REALLY did not measure up. (ie did not show up at all:please memail me if you want who never to use). I am looking for someone who will come to my home daily to feed/water my 2 cats. I live in Fort Point (so parking can be a challenge). Anyone have suggestions? (note; I prefer to leave my cats in situ as vs boarding them)
