What's the skinny on grain free/raw food for cats?

Bunny is a generally healthy, happy 1 year old with smelly poo the consistency of frosting. I'm thinking of switching her food out. What's the skinny on grain free/raw kitty food diets these days? [more inside]

Cheap-er cat food than Big Box?

Is there a cheaper way to purchase kitty food other than PetSmart or PetCo? Or if there's a website that magically sends it to the house? Four kitties who love Blue and Max Nutro are eating us out of house and home. [more inside]

Need advice on transitioning cats to healthier cat food

We have 2 cats that are a little less than 2 years old. They are both active and healthy little terrors with no medical issues. One of them seems like she is always hungry. While I get that there are some animals that will whine for food until they drop dead from overfeeding, when I gave her more she seemed happier. However, at that point she gained a little more weight than she should have to remain healthy, so I wanted to find some food that is more nutritious, has less byproducts, more protein and helps them feel fuller. The freaking dog ate the shamwow (only a piece)

My friend's bulldog just ate a 4 inch square piece of Shamwow before we could stop her. Is she in danger? Should we make her throw up? Is it going to swell in her stomach? Has anyone had any experience with dealing with this?

A human version of Science Diet?

Is there a human equivalent to premium cat food? That is to say, a single form of synthetic food that will serve all hunger and nutritional needs? If not, why not? [more inside]

Pet Friendly Pet Food

I am sure that we are way behind the times but, my wife just read about Iams and the alleged animal cruelty which they either actively participate in or overlook in their suppliers / labs. That, of course, prompted a couple of questions. 1) does anyone know the validity of the claims by PETA et. al.? 2) if they are valid claims, what options are out there for us pet owners who want to use healthy, not terribly expensive and readily available food (large dogs in this case)? Horses boiled at ten thousand degrees?

So, my new roommate brought a cat with her, and she's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I want her to eat wet food as well as dry (she seems to love it), but everytime I open the can I retch. Has anybody found a way around this?

Can dogs eat beef bones safely?

Can dogs eat beef bones? My dog loves them (the raw discarded sort from butchers or rib joints) but when I give him one he goes crazy, actually consuming the bone and digging into the marrow. It worries me, but I've heard the marrow is good for them. But every time I've given him one I've had to take it away because he just gets too crazy. I know they can't have chicken bones (obviously, ow!) but what are the risks of giving him a beef bone as an occasional primal treat, even if it means he'll likely chew the whole thing up?

Cat Eating Habits

My cat almost always shows an interest in people food - until you offer it to her, upon which, almost invariably, she will sniff it and look disappointed. This happens even with uncooked chicken and tuna from the can. Also, whenever we open a can, she runs frantically into the kitchen and tries to see up on the counter - she eats dry cat food, and I've tried to serve her wet food, but no dice on that. Do cats really remember a specific food from the past? Is she hoping for something gross I would never buy, like canned pigs feet or something? Or was she perhaps posioned by people food and distrusts it now? She came from a shelter a couple of years ago (found in a motel) so I have no idea what her background is.
