My friend's bulldog just ate a 4 inch square piece of Shamwow before we could stop her. Is she in danger? Should we make her throw up? Is it going to swell in her stomach? Has anyone had any experience with dealing with this?

Is there a human equivalent to premium cat food? That is to say, a single form of synthetic food that will serve all hunger and nutritional needs? If not, why not? [more inside]

I am sure that we are way behind the times but, my wife just read about Iams and the alleged animal cruelty which they either actively participate in or overlook in their suppliers / labs.
That, of course, prompted a couple of questions.
1) does anyone know the validity of the claims by PETA et. al.?
2) if they are valid claims, what options are out there for us pet owners who want to use healthy, not terribly expensive and readily available food (large dogs in this case)? [more inside]

So, my new roommate brought a cat with her, and she's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I want her to eat wet food as well as dry (she seems to love it), but everytime I open the can I retch. Has anybody found a way around this?

Can dogs eat beef bones? My dog loves them (the raw discarded sort from butchers or rib joints) but when I give him one he goes crazy, actually consuming the bone and digging into the marrow. It worries me, but I've heard the marrow is good for them. But every time I've given him one I've had to take it away because he just gets too crazy. I know they can't have chicken bones (obviously, ow!) but what are the risks of giving him a beef bone as an occasional primal treat, even if it means he'll likely chew the whole thing up?

My cat almost always shows an interest in people food - until you offer it to her, upon which, almost invariably, she will sniff it and look disappointed. This happens even with uncooked chicken and tuna from the can. Also, whenever we open a can, she runs frantically into the kitchen and tries to see up on the counter - she eats dry cat food, and I've tried to serve her wet food, but no dice on that. Do cats really remember a specific food from the past? Is she hoping for something gross I would never buy, like canned pigs feet or something? Or was she perhaps posioned by people food and distrusts it now? She came from a shelter a couple of years ago (found in a motel) so I have no idea what her background is.
