Employee Performance Evaluation Software

I am looking for recommendations for simple software to assist our managers with doing their employee performance evaluations efficiently and timely. Our small company has about 20 employees, and we have previously used paper evaluations but would like to move toward software for this. I would like something where the manager selects a rating for a particular category, and the software auto-fills in some generic description text that the manager can then alter. Then the form can be exported to PDF. Integrated self-evaluations would be nice, but not necessary. [more inside]

Got sent home from work for being 4 minutes late one too many times.

I work in a large, highly corporate sales company where they're hardcore on discipline, time management, organization. I work hard whilst at work and I am learning and growing, but I have such a hard time coming into work on time. We start 7:45 in the morning sharp--by this time we junior salespeople need to be at our account managers' desks, prepared for the day, read emails and self-organized. I. suck. at. this. London comedy club suggestion for fan of Mighty Boosh

I'll be visiting London and I'd love to see some comedy while I'm there. I enjoy going to places like Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles and Second City in Chicago. I love British sketch comedy and love shows like the Mighty Boosh. What are some clubs where I can see some comedy in that vein?

How have you improved job-related self confidence?

I've only very recently identified a recurring behavior/thought pattern in myself. In hindsight, I am surprised it's taken me this long to realize what I'm doing. I guess I'd just call it a lack of self confidence when it comes to work, but there may be more at play. I doubt this is totally unique, so I'd appreciate any advice people have had on improving it. Help me remember a radio story I heard on NPR

There was a story/performance I heard on some (probably NPR) radio show within the last 10 years. It was a man and a woman meeting at a party, and instead of saying things to each other they described what they would say to each other, kind of a meta-conversation. [more inside]

Is It Better To Not Fill Up?

My car weighs 4013lbs (with me in it) and averages 17mpg on my 21.7m (roundtrip) commute. My gas tank holds 20 gallons, but I only ever fill it up half-full. The reason I do this, is because my brain knows how heavy 4 x 2.5 gallon containers of water is, and thinks that not carrying this additional approx 60lbs of weight (1.5% of the 4013lbs) will be better for both mpg and performance (i.e. less liquid sloshing around the tank). Is my brain crazy?

How not to pay extra fee to see the "nutcracker ballet" show

I am going to buy six tickets for Bay Pointe ballet's nutcracker show in San Mateo, CA. If I buy tickets on their website. I need to pay $15.5 for fees. I wonder if anybody knows if I can save those fees when I go to their box office in San Mateo to buy tickets directly. I was not successful when calling them to find out the answer.

Where on can I get Cirque Du Soleil style dance and acrobatics costumes?

I am a member of a small acrobatic group including both men and women, and we are having a hard time finding costumes. There are more options for women, but almost none for men except basic gymnastics outfits and unitards in a handful of colors. We'd love to find a place to get really dramatic costumes, or at least parts we could use to design our own without having to make them completely from scratch. Online is best, as I am in Iceland.

Things To Do In Paris Over The Holidays?

I will be in Paris for a week and some change between Christmas and New Years. I've been before so I know all the standard tourist spots- but I know the holiday season will mess up openings and closings so I'm interested in fun, interesting things and places ...that will be open. Ideally looking for performances, music, English-language theater, etc. I'll be traveling with a classical musician with a fondness for opera, so looking for things along those lines. Any seasonally specific events or things I shouldn't miss?

Running my own midnight movie

I've got a notion to organize a movie screening of some sci-fi movie at a local theater, and sell tickets. It seems to me that the easiest legal way to do this is to buy the performance rights and rent a screen at a franchise theater. Assuming I know ahead of time what those costs are, Kickstarter could be the ticket sales mechanism. [actual question inside] [more inside]

Finding the perfect Mac laptop for an indecisive Windows-based web developer

I'm a web developer / eLearning developer on Windows 7 looking to: 1) Get a Mac because I need to be able to test sites quickly and easily on my own; 2) Get a Windows-bootable unit that can act as my backup machine when my Asus throws a tantrum as it did this week; and 3) Get a reasonably portable Windows-bootable laptop that can handle Photoshop and other resource hogs so that I can work on it at client sites without having to barely squish the Asus (aka "The Clydesdale") into my largest backpack. Ideally, I could get all three in one machine that wouldn't cost the earth. Please join me as I anguish over the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro, the Mac Mini, and other options. [more inside]

Have you been on Wellbutrin and used propanolol as needed?

YANMD: I recently started Wellbutrin (150 mg) for SAD. So far, no side effects. I haven't noticed an increase in anxiety, faster heart rate, etc. I also take around 5-10 mg of propranolol as needed (beta blocker) for performance anxiety. It works really well. My question: has anyone else had this combo of meds and noticed that the beta blocker worked differently? My shrink says it should be fine, but I'm interested in hearing any stories. This is probably my anxiety talking, but I'm just worried I'll take my beta blocker before a performance situation and it won't work, or won't feel the same. Thanks in advance.

Is there a minimum sample size required to use the bell curve for performance management?

Is there a minimum sample size required to use the bell curve for performance management? I was wondering if small teams (3-5) can use the normal curve / bell curve for categorizing employees by performance? I have a feeling that the sample size needs to be much larger than that (3-5) for the bell curve to apply. Anybody know if there is a minimum? If possible please share link to supporting evidence.
