OK, weird question this week, but I have wondered about this for a while. I've noticed in public bathrooms there are a lot of men who either 1) spit in the urinal continuously while peeing or 2) keep pulling the flush handle while standing there pissing or 3) do both of these at the same time. I'm sure there are multiple reasons for why to do this, but I am curious as to your speculations about why they are doing it. Is the spitting some way of being macho? Is the constant flushing some way of disposing that which is "dirty"? the "normative" behavior is to piss and then flush, so why this variant (which also wastes a lot of water BTW)? Why the combination of both spitting and flushing? I think we may reveal something about male psychology or social ideology here.

im finding it hard to balance giving my new cat attention without reinforcing negative behavior. he seems starved for attention, but also shouldn't even be rewarded with even a glance when acting up. the problems seem small enough to nip in the bud. but how? are there any cat whispering techniques?

We have a neutered 15 month Irish Terrier. Very well trained and walked etc, a very content little fellow. I (the Dad in the family) take him on most walks and fun/training stuff. Today as my wife walked him, while stopped at a street corner waiting to cross, he quietly cocked a leg and peed on her leg! I've seen non-neutered dogs at the park do this but never our dog. He listens to both of us but I have most interaction with him. What does this behavior mean? What do you think is going on his head?

What is this strange phenomenon happening with ostensibly house trained dogs soiling the house? I just threw out three area rugs that my 4 yr. old Beagle has ruined by pooing and peeing on them, even to the point of blackening the hardwood floor beneath. The very FIRST thing my son's dog does when she visits is crap and pee right in front of us! No shame....

A
suspect has been brought in for questioning. She did not confess, only licking the detective on advise of counsel.
Two questions:
1) Is she likely the real culprit?
2) What remedies are available? If it is her, I'd like to note that the whole point of the lawn was so that she could do her business out there. We'll get her a potty pad and encourage her not to go on the grass, but I'm doubtful that she'll always go where we want.

One of our cats started peeing in the tub. We got pissed and filled the tub up with water, thus stopping her from peeing in the tub. Now she pees on the bath rug right outside of the tub instead (literally a foot from her litter box). Please help brainstorm some "get the hell back in your litter box" ideas.
